Many years ago I picked up a MVS 2 slot with the intention of building my own cabinet since where I live there is limited options to buy cabinets. Soon after getting the MVS I discovered that there were consolized versions that I could easily use my Neo Geo controllers and plug in to my old Sony CRT. I picked up one of those and I didnt feel as compelled to build a cabinet. I have since built a cabinet and set it up with a lot of great emulators and it made me wonder if I could easily also switch it to real arcade hardware.
I figured the first and easiest option was to put the CMVS in the cabinet. It looks better on the CRT but its more about the experience of using on a cabinet. I bought a neo geo controller extension cord which I will plug in to the CMVS and cut the other end off. Instead of removing my IPAC and having to reconnect all the wires direct to the stick and buttons could I use the ipac as a "screw terminal" and connect the wires from the cable to the matching inputs or is this a bad idea? I would of corse unplug the usb on the ipac or the extension cord from the cmvs so only one was connected at the same time. I would then just connect the sound from the cmvs to the computer speakers and the video to the monitor (s-video to vga adapter).
I dont need to autoswitch or anything I would just connect or disconnect what I need to from inside the cabinet.
Thanks!
