2 Wiimotes as Mame Light Guns
« on: March 09, 2015, 12:33:09 am »
Is there a glovepie script that will allow two wiimotes to be used as mice so that I can use them as light guns in mame?

Seems like the type of thing one would find by searching the software subforum:

Sorry I should have been more specific. I did find that page and it allows me to use the two wiimotes together but it uses them as joysticks through ppjoy and that glovepie script. While this works fine in mame, I was hoping there was a script that allows them both to be seen as mice so that I can use them for HOTD2 & 3, supermodel, and sega model 2. Thanks for your time.

Combine the scripts with Howard's Troubleshooter 2 program for them to work in HOTD PC & Sega Model 2.
Supermodel should already support them as joysticks.

There isn't a solution for Demul though.

EDIT: personally I've never been able to get them to link up consistently enough for me to consider it useable.  It always takes 5 minutes of fiddling and trying to re-pair.
Furthermore, I was using aftermarket wii remotes which would result in the blue screen of death when pairing the second one.

Thanks, I will definitely give this a try. By the way what OS are you running? I am running Windows 7 64bit and I was able to use the program Wiipair along with a glovepie script to get both my wiimotes connected. Everytime my pc starts I have it set to autoboot the glovepie script and then all I have to do is press 1 and 2 on my wiimotes and they sync right up without fail every time.

Tried on Vista and Windows 7.  Pretty sure I get the BSOD because both aftermarket guns have the same controller ID.
It doesn't really matter because I can't stand playing with IR based guns anyway.  They aren't accurate enough to turn off on-screen crosshairs and use the gun sights.
It feels more like playing a magic wand game than a shooting game.

Younger people who haven't experienced the accuracy of old school crt guns might be ok with it, but I'm not.
Now get offa my lawn.

I completely agree with you. My current setup is running windows xp 32 bit and using two guncon 2s through wingun. Unfortunately the setup won't allow me to play a lot of games that I want to play at full speed. These include carnevil, among several others on mame, and almost all of the model 2 and model 3 shooters. I have also found that the guns don't seem to be quite as accurate as I would like them to be. I should mention that my current cab pc has a 2.4ghz intel core 2 quad and 4gb of ram. I am in the process of setting up a new pc that is an intel core 2 duo 3.0ghz which is able to run all the games but I am using windows 7 64bit. My main question would be do you think that this new pc could run these games fine using windows xp 32 and mame 32 bit? I would be glad to keep the guncon 2s for the authentic feel. The other thing is that I had trouble setting up the guncon2s to work for the games in mame that used rotational guns like Jurrassic park and alien the gun.
