The website you linked me to originally, Steve. It's $79.99 there. http://www.technotronic-dimensions.com/Products3.html

The one I linked to above its only $10 plus shipping. Guess it's worth a shot for $10, no? Lol

Update:

O.k. So the RTV Silicone arrived

I put a very large amount over the crack.  I made sure to do my best to squeeze it in the crack as well; also tried my best to spread it around as much as i could without comletely covering the bottom of the unit.  This is what it looks like now.  Looks like i'l have to wait 24hours per instructions before turning her on and seeing if she archs.

As a precautionary measure I went ahead and pulled the trigger on http://vtvparts.com/obsolete/viewitem.php?productid=618 it's not the exact HVR for my unit, but the shop, as well as members on the board said that it's close enough that it might work.  For $16 shipped i'm willing to take the risk.  I saved a ton of money going through that guy rather than this guy > $79.99 . http://www.technotronic-dimensions.com/Products3.html

Yes.. it was not easy, a lot of the black stayed on inside even after blowing it and jamming a thin brush up there

I tried Loews and Home Depot, neither of them had it for purchase at the store; online only  :banghead:. Went with Amazon because of the 2 day shipping (free).

IT WORKS!!!  There is no arching and after about a few seconds the TV turned on.  I had to adjust the "focus" on the back of the HVR (i was terrified) but i got it as good as i could get.  What do you guys think of the quality of the RCA > BNC?? Now the questions is am i done?  Is there anything else i should do with the tv? Do i need to worry about it arching again or from another spot on the HVR? What about XRAYS? lol

I'm currently in the middle of putting up holiday ornaments with my wife so this post is just a quick update.  I'm sure i'm going to end up starting a new one about dialing in this monitor.  At any rate, thank you everyone who commented and tried to help me.  Especially you Ed, thank you for your quick replies.  I checked this thread every night and always had a reply from you.  Greatly appreciate that.

i guess the part that is coming in the mail is just going to sit on the shelf until this HVR dies or someone else needs it.

Video with my initial reaction

That's a curious fact that it works, Ive just gotta thumbs up Mr12 for being so clever.... Still to Me however, (if it were mine) still has a crutched up feel to the patch, and really would find a replacement.

I have another HVR coming in from a different TV.. I've been told that it "could" work. Before i get around to swapping the HVR's out i'm going to start a new thread about calibrating the PVM-2530.  I hooked up my SEGA Genesis (model 1) up to it via S-VIDEO and the picture up top/bottom bend inwards.

@ed12 - How long do you think the silicone will hold up?

The silicone will last virtually forever (**Jenn shakes her TaTas... See, giggle).... But its the breakdown has already occurred, the damage has already been done. I would be of the opinion that a Band-Aid wouldn't be a true fix. However, it fun to see that it is a fix that works.

:applaud: TaTas..

I agree.  I wonder if the bowing top/bottom using SVIDEO is a result of the damage that has already taken place.  I believe that on my EVERDRIVE i have a rom that will help me calibrate the monitor; weekend project?

Found this really helpful video on how to calibrate the PVM-2530 (as well as other PVMs).  The video is fast pace, but if you pause it you can see where the adjustments are.   :P

rtv hold's for about 5-8 yr's under "normal condition's"
but the next time it arch's and it may, just replace the block..there will
be to much carbom damage by then, jen we use that fix all the time,in video profectors, and on the high voltage lead of unit's going over 25kv
it is right from tsb sheet's from the mfg's site's...
