Nicktoons Racing
« on: November 15, 2014, 10:37:16 am »
Took the boys to Chuckee's this last weekend to pump some tokens. 7yr old spent 1/2 hour on a Nicktoons game. I gather that there are several different versions and ports. Thinking about try to stick one on my Starfighter. Anybody mess with these, any that are especially can friendly?

Also need to put Mario Kart GP2 on there while I have the hood open.

Theres a win pc version and a psx version. I havent tried either but im intrigued. So i will probably try to see which one is best. A quick google shows that the PC version is very picky on what pc config it works on with some resellers actually putting a disclaimer of no refunds if it doesnt work on your pc. I also do not see any mention of steering wheel control (most likely doesnt have it). The psx seems like a better choice but there is no good steering wheel plugin. using the wheel as dualshock has a huge deadzone making it unplayable. I recently came across a NeGcon plugin (hand controller made for racing games) that may work better but i havent tried it yet. Ill report back monday.

This build uses an atari yoke, reads via a Kade+. It's not a real driving rig but I have pretty good luck with these types of games. I'll give it a shot.

Have the original downloaded. It's cab friendly for my controls. Haven't got it on there yet but the boy seems to like it. Man it's dated tho, and doesn't hold up like MKart64 does. Have the 2006 Winners Cup coming. $6 shipped so nothing ventured nothing gained.

I was at a kids party this weekend at one of those indoor inflatable places, and they had a Nicktoons Racing that wasn't working. The screen was showing a Windows error popup showing that the controls weren't connected. It was kind of funny.

Not really sure why you're loading up the thread with all the stuff about the actual cab since I was talking about the PC ports of the game but more power to ya!

BTW, that 2006 Winners Cup is just as crappy as the original, doesn't work on anything but the oldest hardware and isn't worth the assache to get it running since it's nowhere near even the poorest racers of the same timeframe.  $6 down the tubes! ;)

Had you actually read what I linked, you would have seen that in the other thread, the PC version was used and what that poster did to interface.  The manual (page 5) lists the game port inputs.

Fantabulous. You know I'm not talking about the Arcade version which runs on a dedicated PC (like tons of titles do now) but the home versions. Thats cool tho, you can think I'm dumb. It don't bother me none ;)

Again, in that other thread, replies #10, 13 and 14, he states that he's using a PC (not the original dedicated PC) and the PC version.  The manual was the pinout locations on a game port like he also used on an audio card.

Funny, I neither implied or expressed you were or are dumb; Unlike the tone of your messages.  You know, number of posts on these forums don't indicate intelligence or the length of time someone has been here...

I don't care how many posts you have.

I do care that all these ports are garbage, and I have no issues interfacing them with my Kade+ yoke since I'm not using a wheel, like I said in my third post to this thread.
