Star Wars converted into a Cabal...lol wut?!
« on: August 17, 2014, 03:25:20 pm »
So I spent $50 today on this... it's an unholy mess.  Of course I'm kinda second guessing selling that marquee and yoke last month now lol but it's all good.  At least it came with a really good shroud and I still have a CP.  I'll try and see how the art looks under the blue but imagine that Souldraw might be in the future for this one.

Incidentally I have some untested Cabal boards up for sale if anybody is interested.

Say what you want.  I paid around $25 dollars to ship my $5 dollar bezel, my stickers weren't intact.   And you got a control planel?  That is a bargain.  chuffed for you!

Have you considered alternate side art?  Maybe a conversion from Star Wars to Cabal would lend itself to some 501st Legion treatment.  May the chuff be with you!

Not really, this one isn't to keep.  Doubt I will even get it complete before I get it sold.  Will likely do all the cosmetic work and then sell it as a relatively complete project cab for one of those yoke holders out there who will take good care of it.  We'll see tho.  Just couldn't believe that crazy ass conversion.  What's cool is how much raw value that was in it that the seller just didn't want to bother with.

You know.. I owned a Tempest converted to Dig Dug converted to Black Tiger converted to DJ Boy and thought that was the worst thing possible.  You've just taken the crown.

Nice. Good thing you got that CP.  ;)

I tell you what, it's things like that, that make me want to horde everything "just in case". Star Wars is probably the only game that I want in my arcade. I've been considering original art and a 8 way analog joystick.

Make it top fire and you've got the same setup as SW Trilogy.  It works.

---Bad words, bad words, whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when saint censors you?--- :woot !!!!  I'd like to thank the academy...

I took a few minutes to dig into this thing.  There is the weirdest damn hack going on in the marquee area.  The top piece of wood looks like it was about two inches short so they tacked on a vinyl wrapped piece to that and then went with some really odd marquee retainers to account for the .75" gap they created.  The whole thing looks really non standard but there was a lot of factory glue and staples involved.  I think I have some stock marquee hardware laying around so I should be able to put it back to the way it "should" be.

Art is toast.  Chunks of it coming off with the blue paint at the slightest touch.  No surprised at that tho.  This whole mess is fixing to get parked until possibly the spring tho as I've got other more pressing projects and for half a bill I can afford to let it simmer.
