Help with Tron, DOT, Space Paranoids.. not to late?
« on: August 09, 2014, 04:12:20 pm »
Hi guys... I know this is about 20 years to late... Im looking for help as cant seem to find any information on this to help just bits...

Im after the cabinet plans for the TRON cabinets, I know that SP was not official release however I have seen Disney cabinet photos (anyone know the donor cabinet).

Can anyone help with any direction to the cabinet plans? also will eventually be after the artwork and the joysticks...

help appreciated... thanks in advance.

That's a good start, But Id have to say its over simplified.... A Tron cab is a very complex build. Just saying you may want to look @ a real one before you start that project.

OMG that is a BIG PROJECT. I hope you are very experienced in every aspect of arcade machines if you plan to attempt this build.

Just my 2cents. good luck!

thanks for the posts guys.... hopefully shouldn't be to hard to get the build using autoCAD and then a CNC cutter for the woodwork. I have a replica DK cabinet so I'm sure with the help from the guys here then hopefully find the resources I need. I'm in the UK so finding a TRON cabinet to help will be almost impossible.

Once the shells are done the fun will be the insides, but going to get the shells built first.

Any other fans/owners can help?

Depending on which tron game you want to play you may need a push/pull spinner:

Also, not sure if you know already, but if you can't find a "real" tron joystick that replica handle will fit on the Happ Heavy Duty sticks:

Cheers!

It's about right for the wood cuts, now finding a shroud and the curved light covers, and everything thing else - that's the trick of it.

thanks for the links... so was TRON not just a standard Midway spinner? what did DOT use?

the plastics are going to be tricky... but I think I have sourced a solution to these :)

Tron was a normal spinner.  Discs of Tron used a spinned that you could lift up or push down.  Push-Pull Spinner.  Those are a LOT harder to find.
