  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
I'm using GroovyMAME 0.153 which I set up with some roms and it's working great and they all work, so now I'm trying to get Mala working. I have it pointed at my c:\MAME\roms folder and it finds the roms fine and lists them but I always get the missing files error when I try to load them. Looking at the DOS prompt when it pulls up I see lines like this:

epr-13235.a6 NOT FOUND (tried in mwalk mwalk)

I think the doubling of the rom name is causing the issue. In Mala options I have the command line option set to %rom% and I've also tried -rp %path% %rom% which didn't fix the issue.

What is causing Mala to find the roms fine but load them incorrectly?

Can you upload a screenchot of your Mala configuration?
In what kind of format have you compressed your roms? If the format is .7z you must have installed the last version of MALA.
Of course, I am supposing that your roms work fine out of MALA.

The ROMs were in 7z, I renamed to .zip so Mala would recognize them (was using 1.74) but I just updated to 1.82 beta and they are now working after renaming back to the original .7z extension. The only problem now is that maybe half of the games are not showing in the list? It seems to stop listing after games starting with M and doesn't list anything further in the alphabet. Does the mame.xml rom info file have to do with this? I believe the program just created the file by default at the first run of Mala. Config screenshot:

Try deleting the mame.xml and create it again.
Pressing in the Game Collection Options you can do a filter in your rom. Then , press OK and update your list in the layout.

Thanks that worked.

What's the best way to get rid of BIOS roms from the game list? I could manually delete them from the list, but won't they just reappear after the next refresh?

Either make your own games list with the games etc you want and then hide the main list (theres a box to tick in the menus somewhere)...or you can modify the main list and create a backup then if you rescan to update the games list at a later date, you can use the games list editor and delete all from the right panel, restore your original backup then add the new games from the left panel back to your custom list save and backup.

Hope that makes sense...its a lot easier than i've probably made it sound  ;D
