My First Arcade Build
« on: July 11, 2014, 06:23:27 pm »
Hello All,

I Figured that I would share my experience of building my first Arcade Cab with everyone.

Attached are some pictures of the cab.  It was hit in sandy  and under a bit of water but I want to bring some new life into it!

Suggestions are welcome :)

~Kevin

I noticed that you posted images here in the "NOT A PROJECT" thread and this thread -- you only need to post pics in one or the other.

The icon on the toolbar inserts the "img" start and end tags, then you paste the link to your photo between the tags.

The link should look like this. . .
Code: [Select]

. . . to insert the image into your thread like this:

The only thing to look out for is that you don't accidently link to a thumbnail instead of the full-size image.   ;D

Good luck with the work. Are you planing on restoring it to the original game or make a MAME cab?

Thanks Man!  After much consideration, I have decided to convert it.  There are too many electronics that where burned out.  I already have a computer (with fully functioning hyperspin  :P) that I will be placing in there so it just seemed like the right idea since this is my first I am very excited to get started and enjoy my new hobby.  I have also decided to keep the body as close to original as possible so that if i decide in the future to change it back to an original cab I can.  So I guess you can say a mix of both I will be restoring the front and the body to original but the inside and the CP will be a custom job. i will be cutting and creating a panel the size of the original CP so i do not have to modify the body.

I have been building a Nintendo with HS as a frontend so that is why I have it already configured.  It is kind of funny I started to get into building the cab all because of Hyperspin, usually it's the other way around  :laugh2:

Just a very small update of my build, more to come this weekend!

I have an old computer that was laying around my house and I decided to update it slightly and use it for my Arcade Machine.  These are the specs :)

CPU: Intel Core2Quad Q6600 (LGA 775) 2.40 GHZ
Motherboard: Intel D975XBX2
RAM: 8 GB (4x2 GB) Corsair PC2-6400 (XMS2)
GPU: PNY NVidia GeForce GTS 250 1GB
HD: 128 GB Kingston SSDNow V300
PSU: Corsair Professional HX650W (Modular)

I will be mounting everything directly to the wood so no case will be needed.  I will also have to add a 4 TB hard drive at some point to hold all of my emulators and games.

Everything I had laying around the house except the SSD which I had to purchase, I guess not too bad for an emulation machine  :applaud:  Let me know what you guys think!
