Controls interface options
« on: May 06, 2014, 06:03:32 pm »
Hello, I am starting a cocktail build and am getting a little lost in all the options for controls interfaces.  The plan is to have a 3 sided table.  The long side will have two 8-way joysticks with 6 buttons each, plus 1P and 2P buttons.  One short side will have a 4/8-way switchable joystick, 3 buttons, 1P and 2P buttons, spinner and Tron joystick.  Other short side will have a 4/8-way switchable joystick, 3 buttons, 1P and 2P buttons and trackball.  Plus a few admin buttons somewhere.

So that makes a total of 5 joysticks, 28-30 buttons, spinner and trackball.  I was thinking I could double map some of the joysticks and buttons.  I don't anticipate using the long side and short sides at the same time.

I don't plan on using LEDs now, but may in the future.

I'm thinking if I double up I could get a way with the I-PAC Ultimate or maybe the Howler.  What other options are there for my setup?

Thanks
Jeff

One short side will have a 4/8-way switchable joystick, 3 buttons, 1P and 2P buttons, spinner and Tron joystick.

Are you planning to put a full-size Tron joystick on a cocktail panel? On the short side?

Yes.  It will be a custom cocktail with a control panel the full width of the small side which will be 22".  I have yet to draw it out, but the plan is a 4/8 joystick on the left, spinner in the middle and Tron stick on the right with 3 buttons below the spinner.
