Bartop Arade Design !? hmmph.
« on: April 05, 2014, 11:00:09 pm »
 :dizzy:

So I've done a bucketload of research into what cabinet design type I want and I've decided one a particular type which I think looks amazing from all angles!!  .. but... i cannot find the design for it anywheres on the internetss...  ..I have the "plans" for the weecade .. and from what I can tell - it's very close, and might actually be the same (when looking at the side panels) .. but.. there seems to be some little differences from it, and what I actually want. I'm going to include some Photos of the ones I like.. and what i like about them, and then the ones I don't like.
I'd also like to say in advance, I think all the cabinets I include in this post are masterpieces and i respect the amount of time, and the skill the people that made them have! so please dont' think i'm dissing your cab - i'm just being particular as to what "my" personal taste is.
So, what i'm really posting this for is: Could anyone please possibly link me plans of the cabs that i like - or share your opinion whether these are actually still based on the weecade design i've included..   .. I think the angle the monitor is set has a large part to do with the 2 different styles - but there are other small angles that seem to differ too..

So .. I think the design i've been seeing around - is the same as this flatpack getup available from a few places through ebay.
160 pounds is well out of my budget tho .. has anyone got the diagrams for these?

I'm guessing by the pics you are looking for something with stronger, straighter lines as opposed to the one giant curve on the weecade?

I've always wanted a bartop that looked more like the late 80's early 90's models with the harder lines. Never found any plans for such thing and my wood working skills suck. If you are good at woodworking, you can easily just draw out the weecade design, get your ruler out and draw the straight lines right over the profile and then cut it out.

Here is some more inspiration from some cabs made in spain and italy respectively.

Hey thanks Delusionals and 404 for the reply !

Yeh Delusionals - I have seen those cabinet designs before. I did consider them at one point - but, i've settled on the design like the Tron arcade I posted above in the pictures.. The design plans for which i'm having trouble finding..  ..I think because the people that make them sell them too, that it's a guarded trade secret :P

404 !! Man thanks for that link - This has really made me reconsider what I want.. .. you are right in saying that i was after some stronger straighter lines.. Somehow i'm going to have to make a hybrid between the Weecade and the Yourcad that you've linked ! ..

thanks again peoples :)

What do you mean harder lines?

You might like the EVO XR cade by floriske.nl and he provides blueprints (I used them for my bartop @ 75% size with a few changes for a 1 player dual joystick setup )

Link to build thread : ( http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,123039.msg1306804.html#msg1306804 )

Also a Pic of my altered build :

yeh JD - this was actually the design i was initially interested in.. just because i liked the way the marquee at the top stood .. but.. i'm pretty much going to build one like the Tron version above  .. I just need the dimensions now.. i've got a 19inch dell 4:3 monitor so i have to base it around that.
