Put yourself on the map!!
A central point for all builders, suppliers, services and all things Arcade

This is a map and database for all thing arcade. Want to:

  • Know and post what services and suppliers are available in your region?
  • Know and post about any local events?
  • Browse and post links to useful sites and resources?
Features:

  • Hover over the pin for all your details: website, email etc.
  • Filter pins and the table by various categories: Builders, Services, Supplies, Links etc
  • Data also visualised by a fully filterable (!?) table.
  • Filter table by tags.

This relies heavily on people contributing. Cummon folks - put yer pin on the map - form only takes 2 minutes!!

I'd be interested in seeing that, Eric, just to make sure I'm not re-inventing the wheel. Any more details?

There's a fairly up-to-date list of vendors here in the wiki.

No map there, but it uses country codes and there are links to the vendor websites.

LMK if you'd like a link to Arcadia added on the wiki Vendor page.

Thanks PL1. Few UK entries there - so I'll get to transferring them onto the map/database. Lots of US ones, may get round to these in time, or may rely on those to whom it may have more relevance to put them on!

Just to be clear - not my aim to step on anyone's toes.

Just as a UK builder, found that it was a real hunt for things like printers, CNCers and parts/tools. Hence the idea behind the map/database - people can put on any "finds" they make. Currently hoping for that backstreet arcade going into liquidation with Star Wars Yokes; Atari Steering wheels and Tron sticks :)

And sure, would be happy to be added to any lists (although I'm not really a vendor!). I'll put the BYOAC Wiki in the links part of arcadia!

:)

How would one go about making edits? I submitted an arcade, but looking at the entry, I see I left comments blank. How do we fix this?

  • Rock and Roll!
A lot of these companies are home-based, online businesses. I would double and triple check each one that you want to list a telephone number for.

Other than that, great idea!

OK, thought this might come up! Will look into it.....

That's really why I wanted to make it user-editable (oops... point above) - so people could contribute their own entries rather than me choosing/presuming details for them!

That's half the fun!

It is until after a month of reading and forum postings you finally realise that you can't get a fekin trackball mount in the UK or Europe for love nor money!

Thanks for the feedback chaps

Whoa. That turned out to be a big task!!! Had to delve into scripting on google docs to sort. Now, when users post, they get a confirmation email with a link that allows them to edit retrospectively.

Yotsuya - I've sent your link via pm.

Update: Jazzed up the map markers a little. Now space invaders are descending on West Coast America.  :o
