Power button is not working
« on: March 18, 2014, 08:19:17 pm »
Hi guys,

first post, so hi :)
I bought a cabinet and for the most part its working.  However The button to power the computer on is not working.
I have traced the button to the component attached.  For some reason to power the computer on I have to press the tiny black button rather than the power button on the cabinet.  Any thoughts ?

Maybe a part on the big button that is supposed to push the black button is broken? Or maybe it is not aligned correctly.

the black wire in the front routed to the back seems like the issue. looks to me like someone soldered that wire in to set the power on the cab. trace those wires back to see if they are loose somewhere else.

Welcome aboard, Stepowell7.

There are a number of threads about how to tap into the Dell front panel ribbon cable for an external power button.

Just use the search button up top and use "Dell ribbon cable".
