Don't know whether this is of any use (maybe for some ideas), but I built this using table legs and tubing for hiding cables:

Still have to complete a few bits on it.

Not so sure about having the whole front in brick.

How about doing the front like a standard SMB screen and the CP like a cloud level (not shown) screen?

Perhaps the lower 6-10 inches in a stone pattern, followed by bushes, mountains and sky with several levels of floating brick shelves with those pushbuttons positioned in the uppermost layer like the floating shelf in the screencap.

If you use SpaceHedgehog's monitor mount, consider wrapping the left monitor support with 3-D steps and have the flagpole as the right monitor support.

Agreed. I like the original art design, but just add the second pipe.

too much brick.   keep the 2 pipes, and the row of bricks between the top of the pipes, do the rest with blue skies, clouds, bushes, and the "floor rocks"

That is some nice artwork and I truly appreciate the suggestion. I'll keep that in mind when it's art time.

I dunno, I still kind of prefer the first design.

I like the first design more than the fireplace but I worry that it'd be unstable. How's this for a Yotsuya seal of approval? PL1 said 2 pipes a while back and so I gives it a shot.

Still as stable as the log burner, still has spots for the wheel mounts, and has the pipe support idea. Has a metric-$%#@ton of bricks but I don't care. Once I start, I'm all in. I'll round those corners on the control panel and base of course. This seems better. At least moving in a better direction.

Keep that critique coming.

1) Motorcycles kick ass.  Have fun.
2) I still like this one but do the following to "fun" it up
    a) change the bricks right below the pipe to the blue stone
    b) do the base in grey stone and lava
    c) do the area above the pipes but below the "ground level" CP as an underwater stage.
3) Disregard all of that, get a piece of gianourmous PVC, do it up to look like a pipe coming out of a brick ground, and put a cocktail machine inside it like barrel of kong
4) Profit.

Sounds good.

Maybe a mashup of an inset underground level (like the warp zone render) for the bottom half and an inset version of the above ground screenshot with a physical piece of pipe extending down from the upper level inset to the underground inset.

Perhaps use the physical pipes with 90 degree connectors at the different levels and set the background back a bit for that 3d effect.  :dunno

Something to consider for sideart.

Left side: Bridge level (2-3?) over an underwater level. (2-2?)

Right side: Platform/mushroom level (1-3/4-3?) over a lava level. (1-4?)

Handy list of levels and worlds available here.

Click on the desired world# and scroll down for level maps like the links above.

set the background back a bit for that 3d effect.

Just like in this earlier render.

I'm with you on that. When I saw the original idea I actually got a little bit upset that I didn't come up with that design.

And this is more what I had in my mind after seeing the original idea as well. Now this is slick!

Yes but with insets for each level (ie. Underground, Water, Sky) and the pipes to the sides like in the other renders rather than 3 pipes in the one inset -- so that the insets are the various levels and tied together with the pipes he has at the sides.
