Mame questions

Could someone advise me please?

I have the mame 0.151 rom set, can I use the 0.149 CHDs?  or do I need to somehow have them updated?

just try your version of MAME with the game in mind.

If ROM/CHD needs updating, MAME will report with an error. That's when you need to hunt what's missing/updating.

Chances are, it might be good to go.

You will be fine with 149chd set playing with the 151 roms.
All the CHD's for 149 that could be converted to version5 have been done.
The update of the CHD's from 149 to 150 there are some name changes. Just rename them.

carnking\carnking.chd rename to: carnking\carnival_king_v_1.00.11.chd
chasehq2\chase_hq_2_v2.0.6.chd rename to: chasehq2\chase_hq_2_v2.0.6.jp.chd
gtfore02\gt2002.chd rename to: gtfore02\golf_fore_2002_v2.01.04_umv.chd
gtfore02o\gt2002o.chd rename to: gtfore02o\golf_fore_2002_v2.00.00.chd
samspsen\samurai spirits sen.v1.chd rename to: samspsen\samurai spirits sen.v1.00.chd
trbwtchs\troublewitches_ac_v1.chd rename to: trbwtchs\troublewitches_ac_v1.00j.chd
but the update was 37.1 gigs.
Then the update of the chds from 151 to 152 is 35.8 gigs.

But you will be fine playing what you are asking. At the moment I am playing 151 roms with cave ones with the 150 CHD set fine.  I have the CHD updates, just have not added it to my setup. yet.
