Geometry wars (PC) with analogs
« on: January 24, 2014, 11:50:57 pm »
Hey

I'm just wondering how I can use 2 analog joysticks (360's) for geometry wars for pc. I think the game only recognizes 1 game pad at a time, does each 360 act as a individual gamepad in windows?? I would like to remove my 2 8way joysticks and ipac for a complete analog setup in my geo wars cab. any ideas?? thanks in advance

It will work with keyboard inputs.

Get joy2key running for each stick, inputing keyboard inputs - set it up to match Geometry Wars default keyboard bindings.

Or you could probably use PPJoy to create a virtual joystick that merges both of your sticks into one.

360s are individual so that's not a great solution for this game if it can't map the inputs but the KADE I used in the build for M had dual analogs and worked awesome in PC.  One as directional and other as POV hat on a gamepad.

Scott just used two of the four available axes but does a great tutorial in that thread.

Finding the joys will be the trick, they can be stupid asspensive, or you can get some cheap-o PC flight sticks, hack them apart, add a bat top, and figure out how to get them to bottom mount to your CP and you'll be good to go.  I'd actually flip the base over, cut a hole through the plastic, run the rod stock into the housing and wire the pots backwards.  Could work.  Could crash and burn.  Either way should be a lot of fun!

I'm still kinda trying to figure out why you never went with one of the flight sticks that has a POV hat on the top, then you could play with one hand and drink beer/tea/whatever with the other.
