I usually do a google search on the model number of the screen\DVD player and\or look at the pic of the back of the monitor if given usually one or the other will give a look at the power specs ( FIgure most of them are pretty flexible since they are designed to work on 9V - 12V since they are designed to run on car voltages and only take a small amount of power.

For example the $20 ones I linked with a google search comes a link to the Manual  ( http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/p/pd7012_37/pd7012_37_dfu_eng.pdf ) and in it :

Input: 100-240V 50/60Hz 0.3A
Output: DC 9V 0.8A

SO you'd need an adapter that provides 9V and at least 0.8A which should be fairly easy to find at your local Goodwill ! OR a quick Google search for 9V DC power adapter comes up with this EBAY one for $1.95 shipped ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/AC-to-DC-9V-1A-Converter-charger-Adapter-Power-Supply-1000-mA-5-5X2-1-2-5X0-7-/171414833630?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6393 ) which is 9V 1.0A so would work fine !
