Missile command panel
« on: January 02, 2014, 06:34:26 am »

Advise me on my Missile command swappable panel.

What are the options for trackball? I'd like to stick with KADE encoder if possible.

What other games do I want to consider for adding buttons, or are the 3 missile command buttons sufficient.

I will probably use 3 convex buttons, like Sanwas.

Your number one trackball for missile command would be an Atari
4.5" original but they will be hard to find.
I believe Ram controls carries everything for them but alot of people
have had huge issues buying there.

3" happ or betson would probably be your next best bet.
The USB version of them will accept 3 buttons also, so you wouldn't
need to worry about an encoder.

I would think the 3 buttons will take care of all trackball games

I have owned several trackballs over the years...my first was a 3" Wico that came with my first cabinet.  I replaced the rollers and bearings in it, and made a mouse hack interface for it, it worked ok. next i bought an Ultimarc U-Trak. It felt much nicer than the wico, and lights up nicely....however it still didn't roll as smoothly as my friend's happ trackball.  For Christmas, my wife got me an electric ICE-T trackball from groovygamegear, which is a modified Happ trackball...it is awesome.  it looks really nice, like the UTrak, but it feels so much better....i will never buy anything buy happ trackballs from this point on...the GGG model is really nice...i highly recommend it.

I would hunt a little and find a 4.5.  there is just nothing like it...the size is perfect for the palm, the weight is like no other

I sold two 4.5"s this year I think, they didn't really go for that much.  Cruise fleabay and be prepared to do a refurb.  It's worth it.
