Build a Mario Bros Wide or Donkey Kong style cabinet?
« on: December 05, 2013, 02:18:11 pm »
Hi! I'm considering building a simple cabinet for the office lunch room. Simple as in cheap, using parts available around, and painting it, no fancy stuff, but as nice looking as possible.

I was thinking of using the Donkey Kong design. Even though it's fairly big, it looks small and not to flashy (not a huge Marquee hanging over etc).

But the wide 'Bros cabinet seems to be much better for two player. Which would you recommend? It is going to be a two player cab...

I concur.  Pauline Vs The Grape Ape, even.

Bah... OK, in other words:

Will the non-wide cabinet be large enough for two people? 2 feet wide...

With time - Sure! I will most likely build a wide body when I move out of the apartment. But this is for my office...

I think I'll go with the Donkey Kong design, and a 19" 4:3 monitor (horizontal) and two players with three buttons.

If your goal is for two player fighters and other horizontals, the wide will be better.
My cp is 24" though and two players aren't bad.
