Unfortunately the Pedestal I have already, is my Dining room table, LOL. And the Wife is none too happy about me using it as my arcade pedestal.
I'll PM Kaneda

Its up to you to find the comfortable height. As for the width; To keep it stable as stable as possible, the narrowest width Id make it would be where the angle is for the outter players. Your CP art of the SFII SNES box art is weird, but to be honest, I like it.

I am just talking about the pedestal part, I have already built my control panel

Can't wait to hear the incoming chatter about those P3/P4 joystick orientations.

We get tired of harping on it after a while and need a break.
During that time I'll just post short comments like this and leave it up to the builder to seek out the rants:

So when I was a kid, Street Fighter II champion edition was my favorite game ever......
Search the main forum for "angled joysticks" and do some reading.
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,135309.msg1397344.html#msg1397344

As is evident, that doesn't seem to work.

We must remain vigilant.  8)

I've decided that unless someone specifically posts, "What do you think of my build?" (like Kaneda did), then I ain't sayin' ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- about 4 player builds. You're right, BM, it's tired and hashed out and if people don't want to do the research or don't care, ---fudgesicle--- it. It's their time, money, and build. I'm not going to be playing on it anyway.

But if they ask, and it's during the PLANNING phase, then I'll pipe up. If it's already built, see previous paragraph. I'm looking to provide feedback, not validation.

So what do you think of my build?  My pedestal should arrive on Friday...I'll have photos and measurements then...finally.

@kaneda: How tall is this pedestal of yours? It looks unusually short in the pictures, but I suppose that could be an illusion. My Street Fighter II machine (Dynamo HS-1 cabinet) is about 3 feet from the floor to the lowest part of the control panel, and the control panel angles up from there (as all Dynamo "cut-corner" control panels do), so the controls are an inch or two higher than 3 feet.

So this is what I started with.  Mapped out the wall with the specs for the pedestal and the 55" Sony LCD TV.

Then I finally got to hang all of these vintage marquees I bought like 4 months ago.  Super cool way to frame the space around the TV and MAME.

Without this forum stepping in, this build would have had some major mistakes.  The ANGLED joysticks would have been the worst possible mistake.  When playing 4 player games, Up on the joystick needs to be UP on the screen.   When you actual play a game and are standing at the pedestal at player 3 or 4, it's clear why angled would suck.

Also, the button placement is perfect.  Thanks again guys for helping out with this.

What I don't get is why people are calling my pedestal BIG and Huge.  There's hardly that much shoulder room as it is.  Any smaller would have the players dick and ass together.  When it arrived, I was actually very surprised by the compact nature of it.

It's awesome.  Can't believe I have like 25,000 games in my bedroom right now.  Amazing.

Woof! I actually like your setup too. I can now see the appeal for pedestal cabinets.

Thanks!  Pedestal's are awesome for a few reasons.  They take up so much less room.  Allow you to move it around the room easily.  I can't move my arcade cabinets much.  They also just look so nice...you get the best of the cabinet look/feel with lots of color and artwork, but you don't have to lug a 300 pound unit around.

Also, I was shocked, but gameplay on it is so nice.  Moves come out nicely and scrolling between games is such a cinch.

Not to be nit-picky, but I can put two games in the same space as your 55" screen. Plus, I rarely, if ever, move my cabs around.

Having said that, I'm happy you're happy with it.

So you pay rent, for space used solely as a man cave... Nope, that's not weird at all.

looks nice...i'm glad you are happy with it.  How is it being so close to the 55" tv?  i have a 42" tv on my pedestal cabinet, and I can't imagine going any larger than that.

also, how stable is it?  it looks as if it would tip over if you lean on the front edge of it.

It's very stable.  Not that heavy.  Doesn't tip at all.  A pedestal wobbles a tad when you are pulling hard during street fighter play, but just a little wobble.

Screen is big but you adjust quickly.  Like I said, for wide screen sf4 matches its so easy to slide it back.  But even playing right up on it isn't bad at all .  I'm really happy with it.

Anyone in NYC want to come play? Fiancé photo comparison to come...

You could easily get $5000 for it on Craigslist.

Yeah, like 3 years ago.

Anyone in NYC want to come play?

Sorry, try to avoid it like the plague.  I'll stick to Albany.  Glad you like it.

Have a Merry Christmas.

What I don't get is why people are calling my pedestal BIG and Huge.

Ok so a 55" (16:9 ratio)  TV is roughly 27" x 48" (who says you'll never use the Pythagorean Theorem in real life?) makes your tiny pedestal about 4 feet wide. By comparison, NBA Jam/Blitz/Open Ice/etc 4 player panels are 37" wide (3 feet 1 inch) , so yours is practically a foot wider (actually 11 inches).

I'll abstain from any dick and ass commentary, its not needed.
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.
