Xin Mo 2 player controller bad??? (SOLVED)
« on: October 23, 2013, 10:50:03 am »
Hello all.  Been reading a lot of info and learning from this site, and just recently put together a quick 2 player panel for my kids to tool around with.  anyhoo, in an attempt to not spend too much to make sure its not a total waste of money before i commit to a full cab, i purchased a xin mo 2player controller. wired it up and rechecked it 3x.  The pin out of course is totally different from what the instructions came with,so ive figured out which ones are all buttons and they work fine, but cannot figure out my directionals.  when i try to configure game settings via tab,  it will only register Right when i push stick right, and it trips the selection line into a continuous cycle of only going up the list while resting in neutral position. Hope that is understandable.... would u think the controller is bad at this point or something im missing here, and if so, which would be a good cost friendly option?  just need to run common SFII setup with 2 admins.   Thank you in advance.

Here's a pic of the layout according to Monster Arcades - (as you can see there are a few differences in the layout for P1 and P2 so it might be you have it wired incorrectly - 1 wire should go to the corresponding R,U,L,D and the second wire to the ground for each joystick connection.

so maybe im doing something wrong.  my kit came with 2 daisy chains.  i assume, 1 per player.  on player 1 side,
I have all 6 buttons and the joystick daisy chained to G above B8,   or should i use G above U?    or do i need a seperate ground for buttons AND joystick?

Make sure none of the joystick switches have the input wire connected to the NC terminal, instead of the NO terminal as they should be.  Different devices handle simultaneous (and impossible) opposing directions in different ways.  This behavior could indicate this condition.

Also, try removing all of the input connections to the stick and test each switch individually to make sure all of them are working like they should.

Grounds are all common, so yes.
