Gamemolding.com experiences?
« on: August 29, 2013, 11:03:41 pm »
Has anyone else tried Gamemolding.com?  I'm curious of your experiences with them.
I ordered 24' of 1/2 molding.  I was very happy with the price and shipping times...until I noticed that they sent me 5/8" instead of 1/2".. Project on hold.  I contact them and they offer to send me a replacement of 1/2" and said I could keep the 5/8". I'm happy again, especially when the replacement arrives only a few days later.  BUT, once again, once I open the box my happiness fades.. This time they only sent me 20' instead of 24', so I can't complete the second side of my cabinet. (and I'll have 9' of "wasted" t-molding)  Project on hold for a bit longer....

I order from them all the time. Although I use ebay with them and have had no issues. I suspect that with ebay's auto-crap it makes it almost impossible to send the wrong item.

You could always trim the t-molding using a chisel. If it were me, that's what I'd do.

What?

He got thicker t molding, right? Install it, and then shave it to size.

Oh I get it. not a bad idea. I would recommend a razor blade though

I wish I could claim it was my idea, but I actually read it in another thread yesterday.

That's a lot of work to do for something I PAID to get right the first time.  Besides, There's no way I'd be able to ensure a perfect edge.

Yeah, I suspect that's true.  Most everything about their service is good, I just can't get what I ordered.. (which kinda defeats the purpose)

I use tmolding.com and never have an issue.
Come to think of it, I've never seen any other complaints either about tmolding.com

Yes and no. Yes, it's more of a solution for people who have 5/8" melamine and want the colour flexibility of 3/4" t-molding. (I'm certainly not saying you shouldn't be disappointed, but I'd personally be ecstatic with 24' of "free" t-molding.) No, using the sharp tools properly, rested on the edge and taking your time, you could get a perfect edge.

I would just install the thicker stuff and let it hang over a little bit, it protects a lot better that way.

I believe this is the thread Rick was referring to -- BobA mentions this trimmer, in case anyone was interested.

Thanks for linking my thread.   I had lots of 3/4 inch that I needed to trim to 5/8 and the trimmer worked perfectly.  Trims to 1/2 inch as well.

That's a pretty cool tool. I'll have to look into it.
I originally went with Gamemolding.com since they sold by the foot, not in 20' increments. (My current project needed 24')
I will say that they have some -excellent- customer service, and I believe I will continue to use them in the future.
