Driver help for touchscreen
« on: August 01, 2013, 03:06:14 pm »
Hi, I was able to pick up a old ecast jukebox wall mounted and am working in converting it to a home jukebox. I have Windows 7 home basic on it and the touchscreen shows just fine but the touch functions do not work. All that I have read says you should not need to do anything for Windows 7 to work on a touchscreen and since ecast is no more I don't know how to get a driver. Anyone have any ideas?
 :dunno

The replacement touchscreens are ELO, so I imagine it uses ELO drivers.
Try the multi-touch Driver 4.5.0 one
http://www.elotouch.com/Support/Downloads/dnld.asp

I haven't used ELO drivers on Win7, but on XP and Vista it will add a configuration app to the control panel for calibration.
You might have to open that and calibrate it before it works correctly.

I'm assuming it's new enough to use a USB plug for the touchscreen.
Does it make the new hardware connected sound when you plug in the USB plug?

I'm not sure how to go about testing the touchscreen itself if the PC isn't picking it up.

No it actually uses a serial port. My drivers are all working and up to date also. In display settings it comes up as Non-PNP Monitor and I read someplace that setting a custom screen resolution would work??? I thought the glass overlay was where the touchscreen worked from??? Been pulling my hair out for 2 days so far. :banghead:

Yeah ignore the monitor stuff.  If you see a picture, the monitor is working.

The touchscreen itself is a different device and should show up under input devices.
You might try some of the other drivers on the ELO page.

Does your mobo have a serial port or are you using a PCI card or USB adapter?

It has a built in serial port and says ok in system properties. Ok I will skip the moniter drivers and someone said something about a wave screen or board?? does that sound like anything to you? Thank you by the way for your help!

It doesn't mean anything to me, but I'm not a tech.  I've messed around with half dozen old touchscreens for jukebox builds and megatouch replacements.
That's as far as my experience goes (and it was usually trial and error).  Half of them were serial, but I never used Win7 with any of them.

My next step would be to try to use it with a computer running XP.
If it does, then you know it's something to do with the Win7 drivers.

I had good luck with sw500926 & SW600188  drivers. I also have a serial connected ELO so hopefully they help you out.
I have been trying to attach them to this message with no joy though  :badmood:

Your attachment couldn't be saved. This might happen because it took too long to upload or the file is bigger than the server will allow.

Doh,  Files are bigger then 2MB.

Ok, got another drive and installed XP pro did all updates and tried installing SW600188 then tried the single touch driver 5.5.0 and was unable to find SW500928. When installing either of these I see "Found new Hardware" then your hardware is now ready to use. I reboot and still doesn't work. :banghead:
I have the moniter port the serial port and a little wire that comes off of that I connected to a fan port on the mobo. any ideas???
