Coin slot reject
« on: August 01, 2013, 03:54:44 am »
So for some reason I was thinking about the coin reject button on arcade machine doors. What does it do? I know it says you push it to get your credit back, but in my experience no coin door actually holds the coin until you spend it. It just clunks down into the bucket. So unless you drop the coin in with the button held down, it doesn't really work.

Am I right or was every coin door in western canada rigged?

For the record, my coin door on the spinal tap machine is set to eat everything but only accept quarters as credits. It seems the most arcade authentic.

Not sure what you mean. It is only used if you put in the wrong type of coin - this should then get held until you press the reject button, which spits the coin back out.

Hmmm never had that happen. If I put in the wrong type of coin it has always just fallen through to the coin return. And damn did I try everything. Especially electrical box knockouts - my dad was an electrician and as kids we always asked him for those. He had no idea why we wanted them, and didn't ask. We used to just feed them through over and over until we got a credit. It worked at the local 7-11's narc and bad dudes machines, as well as the popcorn machine at the laundry mat.

That makes more sense though, having it hold the coin. My coin door is missing pieces so that's why it eats everything.
