Button Question
« on: July 29, 2013, 11:19:52 pm »
Hey guys, I love reading all the information on here, but this is my first time posting. I have a mame machine, that I'm currently using an Xarcade for (although I'm dying to wire my own buttons and trackball soon). My issue is when I am playing Track and Field. It's a little tough to describe the problem I'm having, but I'll try my best. So, when I'm in the initials section and I hold down Player One Button 1 and then press Player One Button 3, it will not overwrite button 1. Therefore, during game play, it is impossible to run using both buttons. I have to go as hard as possible with one button. HOWEVER, when I am playing Hyper Sports on the same emulator, when I have Button 1 held down, I can then press Button 3 and it will switch (Button 1 does not stay locked in). Which means I can use both buttons as quickly as possible during game play.

I know my description might be a little confusing, but hopefully someone will know what the issue is here. I don't know what it would have to do with, but any help or insight is much appreciated!

Thanks in advance to anyone who has any input!!

Since you are using Mame, you can press the TAB key to go into the game's settings menu (While the game is running.) Check to make sure the buttons you are pressing are set up to do what you want. Seems to me this may be the problem, since the button combination works on one game but not another.
You will most likely have to plug in a keyboard to do this. (You can plug in a usb keyboard and use both the keyboard and X-Arcade.)

Hi thanks for the response, I appreciate it. I actually have the same buttons coordinated with both games, which is why it's confusing and frustrating.

Anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks!

Hmmm, to rule out something wrong with the xarcade, have you tried with just the keyboard? (X arcade unplugged)

What type of xarcade do you have?

Is the xarcade on its default settings or do you have a custom one setup?

Also are you using the USB or PS/2 connections?
