I used 1/2" aluminum angle from Lowes.

Here's a picture (I left the dust on so you can see it better):

It was cheaper per foot than real marquee retainer.   If you have an extreme angle then it might not work as good as the real stuff but it worked great in my case.

Make sure you use an etching primer before painting aluminum or the paint won't stick.  Another less effective technique if you can't etch the surface is to sand the aluminum with fine sandpaper (like 600 or 1200 sandpaper).

I used the "L-bracket" used for ceiling tiles (look at figure 3 on this link  http://www.popularmechanics.com/home_improvement/home_improvement/1996/7/suspended_ceiling/index2.phtml
They come in multiple length but I think the shortest is 6 feet for 2 bucks or something like that. They paint easily (although I primed first), they drill easily so you can secure them with a couple of screws at the top, and becasue they're relatively thin, you can adjust the angle if your cab requires something that's not 90 degrees. Also because they're "folded over" they hace a nice round edge that won't scratch your plexy.

I'm using a U shaped bit of acrylic to hold the marquee graphic, and velcro to attach it to the cab.

I found some J shaped stuff they use in those white wire type closet organizers at my local hardware store.  It came in an 8 foot length, it's pretty heavy duty stuff.  I used a hacksaw to cut down two pieces and painted them black.  Got myself some black screws and BAM! instant marquee holder :-) If I had a picture of the stuff I would but I don't have a digital camera.
