Are the Pele LED rings still being made?
« on: May 06, 2013, 07:45:40 pm »
Ever since stumbling across this thread/build, I've been wanting to get my hands on some Pele rings for my own projects.  But the 30mm rings have been out of stock ever since I first checked (probably 6 months or so ago).

Does anyone know if they are still being made?  I'm wondering at this point if I should continue to be patient, or look to alternatives.

Nobody?  Anyone know of any good LED lighting alternatives for lighting up buttons like the Sanwa or Seimitsu clear buttons?

Nobody?  Anyone know of any good alternatives for "ring" lighting buttons like the Sanwa or Seimitsu style clear buttons?

They're not Sanwa or Seimitsu style, but these give a nice "ring" effect when paired with Paradise's IL-lumination LEDs.

Whoops, I should have been more clear.  I've got the Sanwa and Seimitsu buttons already, I'm looking for LED solutions for them.

...  I still haven't got my replacement after months of emails. I even offered to send more money to get one more that works correctly. Haven't gotten a reply in weeks now.

Notice my thread was in December and it's now may. Sigh. I've given up hope at this point.

That's extremely discouraging.  I'd heard good things about Paradise Arcade before, but I may skip ordering from them entirely if this is how things are lately.

For the record, in the past three weeks I've placed two orders with Paradise that arrived within days. YMMV.

Yep... I had small issue with a Paradise order in the past but in the end they made it right and I would buy from them again.

Hey guys, sorry I don't comb the forums for questions, but Unstupid gave me a heads up.  We have had some email problems when we switched servers but that should not have been going on since December.

1) Pele rings are available, new stock will be arriving in a week or two.  I'm not sure what happened but we sold what seems like 500 over night and it takes a little while to restock

2) As far as a replacement or anything else.  If you ever have a problem, Susan put her cell phone on the front page of the website 651-332-3665, just call... Remember though, 3pm EST is 9 am here...

We are still going to offer Pele's but we are also radically changing the method of lighting in a way that we think will be very exciting for people in the mame world.  We will probably launch it in a month or two, but keep your eyes open.  The Peles will work with the new system...

That's good to know, so I'll keep checking in the mean time.

We have had some issues with the LED company, We are using flexible pcbs now for the uprights, with two wires to hold shape... the first round was not soldered correctly, round two is supposed to ship this week and the early prototypes were perfect!
This delay is killing us to, we paid up front for a LOT of LEDs

Send me your user email address, I'll log on an bill for the cart.  The store is set up to default to express international shipping costs.  We got burned by people buying on priority and claiming they never received pacakges. It cost us a few thousand dollars in lost products.  Because of this our default is express, but with any forum members we will convert to more economic shipping methods.

This is interesting and useful information! I've swapped a few emails with Susan, and she seems very patient and helpful with regards to shipping.

On a slightly off-topic note; I can’t find a spec sheet for these lights anywhere. I'm hoping to team them up with these WS2811 LED Driver Chips. If that's not possible, then the next best option looks like LEDs with the driver built in.

But now you mention:

radically changing the method of lighting
That makes me wonder if you are inventing something similar. I'm in no great hurry, so I'd be happy to wait a bit if you are.

Aaron.

Don't forget about import taxes! I just received my order of Uila leds and some random other stuff (€74/$95). Besides the high shipping cost (€45/$60) I also had to pay an additional €43/$56 in import taxes! That's 21% BTW/VAT, and another 12% for god knows what (to find out their website states I should call them), and then another €17,50/$23 for the cost they supposedly make by taxing me 33%.

Any news on the pele rings yet?
I have send you my order list by mail last week or so, but i didn't receive a response yet.

@edekoning:
I have never payed additional costs like import tax for my international orders before, but I have a bad feeling about this :(
Most of my internet orders came from China and Hongkong, but these where all very small.
Maybe it is cheaper to create the clear buttons with black knob myself.
but i really want the pele rings and i don't think shipping will be much cheaper when i don't order the buttons.

So i guess my arcade project will have to wait ;)

Well anything below €22 will not be taxed. Another thing to consider is the value of the goods. If the value is not clearly stated on the package, then they are allowed to open it and make an estimation.

Guys I can't really state this any more clearly but please contact Susan.  All international orders are by default billed as express shipping because we lost 1000's in people claiming they never got their packages.  However, if you go the step of telling us  your forum id and writing we will adjust the shipping to priority and can help on a number of issues.
