new touchjams feature , very very good
« on: March 29, 2013, 06:39:39 pm »
just thought id share a new feature in touchjams software , i believe this is the best juke software on the market , not free but very very good

a new feature has been added ,basically the software is sold to pubs and clubs , any songs selected are recorded back to the company and a top 100 list is added to your computer for america europe and australia , the best thing is if you own the song displayed you can play from that list , a red light is in front of the songs you dont own so it gives you ideas on songs that you might want

for 50 bucks for life this is a great program and it has been my favorite for a year or two now after trialling  most juke software programs

do youself a favor and test the free full seven day trial

Thanks for the heads up....that is a pretty cool feature.  Definitely something I would be interested in.

Have you tried etouch as well?  I am looking at getting a program and most that are polished looking cost money.  I would rather not spend money on one and then switch to a different one if possible.

Are there different skins for touchjams besides the ones they have shown on the site?  It looks pretty basic but not too bad.

Any information you could give me would be great.

Thanks egosbar.

sorry peja , been busy at work

yes there are different skins available , new feature is also the ability to rename your buttons which is good ie  it had enque all i changed that to add all etc

also the ability to skin your own , ive done one that is on the skin now egosbar , its done for my juke using 4:3 screen and four album view which i like better then a cluttered 16 view , the skinning takes a bit to get used to but if you keep in touch here i can walk you through it

i always used free software and this is the first commercial one ive used , the programmer is very keen on new ideas and always responds and implements things that are worthwhile , like i said for a one off 50 bucks its the best ive seen , ive used them all mate and i have used etouch

you can actually skin buttons if you change the pics in your data files which i done for the a-z letters on my skin , i have to update my skin with the programmer actually as ive done more work on it , the decade buttons are also pretty cool , push the 80s say and all albums made in the 80s show only

any questions you have ill happily answer as i know a fair bit about this one now

there is also a skin mode that changes for certain dates ie st patricks day etc if you enable it which is pretty cool

Hey no problem egosbar.  I actually played around with it a little bit this weekend again and saw your skin...downloaded it and used it.  Since my non touch test monitor is a 28", I ended up switching it to a 1920 x 1080 16:9 skin and it looks really good.  I like the 4 big squares of yours and the minimal buttons.  When I get more time, I will have to look into working with the skins and maybe customize my own.

The only thing I would switch as of right now is the skin buttons.  Instead of 90s, 80s, 70s, etc, I would have metal, country, 80's, 90s, pop, etc.  Do you have any examples of different looking buttons from changing the pics in the data file?

I also kept looking at that new feature you were talking about to see what the top charts are.  Makes you want to have all of those songs so you don't see any red lights on the left hand side though, but that could become costly.........

I'm thinking of purchasing it as my 7 day trial is almost over.

Thanks for the help!!

there is a genre button , i deleted it as most music hasnt been tagged with genre or has been tagged wrong , its easy to show and has all those genres , you can even create and name your own genre ie spannish etc if you wanted

yeah you cant use my skin on a wide screen , but mine is 4:3 so it works well , ill upload my latest changes to my skin , ive added back the 60s etc buttons and they look great , when you click on them they light up or look like they do

ive deleted the examples of the buttons i added to the data files , but its easy enough to do , i just havent found or made the exact buttons i want yet

ill talk to bob and put your request of genre buttons that can be added to screen but as i said you do have to tag all your music into genres

i have a lot of music but still a lot of red lights on the charts screen lol , ive asked bob to add green lights to the ones you own that would be a good easy addition in think

like a said in my earlier post i always used free or trial versions until i started using this one its a ripper and definitely worth a one off payment , there is a support email address you can talk to bob , he will definitely answer you , actually why dont you email him with your idea on the genre buttons , he may not choose to implement as there already is a genre screen but its a good idea in my opinion

have you ideas for buttons or examples as ive never really found a set that i really like yet , id like a set that maybe looked a little more realistic , im doing a lot of photoshop now and some of the people on the forum are very talented i might float the idea to come up with better buttons and really get into building a good skin , we can work together on it if you want although wed have to do two skins wide screen and normal but i can give you an easier run into skinning then i had lol

I think I have tagged most of my folders properly.....I probably need to clean it up a little but it shouldn't take long.  I have tons of music so it took awhile to tag them all.

I get what you are saying about wanting more realistic buttons.  I think he has a great program and is on the cusp of something really good here.  The buttons still seem very basic and plain.  I wish I knew more about photoshop so I could help create them.  For instance, Touch Tunes looks really nice.  I realize they are a national company and have profits that are much much higher but their interface looks very polished.  Not sure if it would be possible to implement this look into Touch Jams or not.

Here are some examples:

Even E-Touch which I think is a good program as well, has polished looking skins.

I originally started out using E-Touch and was about to purchase it but for some reason it didn't like a lot of my covers.  For example, I had a folder called AC/DC.  Within that folder, I had 3 albums.  Within each of those folders I had a cover.jpg and a folder.jpg, I even used the wizard to create thumbnails.  However, on the main screen, it would only show 1 of those folders artwork, even though each folder as well as the songs were tagged.

Touch Jams had no problem with artwork.

If I get around to playing with it again in the next day or two, I will shoot Bob an email.  If we maybe get some outside help from some good photoshoppers and yourself, we may be able to make this into a pretty nice looking program.

Thanks egosbar.

yeah im getting into photoshop and ive put a request on our forum for some help in getting some nicer buttons , it is one of the only programs ive used that doesnt have any trouble at all with artwork , i use media monkey to tag my music but with any tagging of large collections you still get some problems , one of the good things about touchjams is when it loads if you arent tagged properly it wont load them on and give you an error list which you can go through and fix your problem areas , when i first loaded i had 700 odd errors files  ive reduced this now to about 100 by doing  some every now and then

are you talking about dvds saved to your hard drive or an actual movie dvd , it has a video screen but i really only use it for my music as dvds and music videos take up too much room on the computer i use , its only and old one and my music takes up most of the space

a quick update on touchjams

bob has added the green light to songs you own in your library for the charts view , for those that dont know the top 100 songs played on jukeboxes from australia europe and usa all a separate top 100 are displayed and if you have them a green light shows and you can play from there and a red light if you dont own gives you a good heads up on music you might want to purchase

loving it such a unique feature

Latest E-Touch skin..

Availble for life time members, as for this chart feature it's been in E-Touch for years. It works slightly different in that you download the monthly charts yourself but they are offical charts, there is a section on the forum that hast the links to them for various countries.
