4-player Encoder
« on: March 24, 2013, 09:32:18 am »
Greetings all,

Ive been reading through the forum and Googling around for an encoder for a 4-player CP (4 joysticks, 6 buttons each, 4 credit buttons and a few admin). So far the only two Ive seen is the Ultimarc Ipac4 and the one by Paradise Arcade. Anyone know of any others?  Or have other suggestions on how to handle a 4 player CP?

Thanks

Le Chuck

Why wouldn't you just go with an I-Pac4?

I am not sure about this as I havn't used one, but as I understand it, the lono2 from paradisearcade.com is a joystick encoder, not a keyboard encoder. Meaning that you have the 4 joysticks and their buttons, but I am not sure if the admin buttons, player start buttons, and coin buttons work from it. So if someone who knows about this and confirm whether the lono2 can handle these, or if the OP will still need another keyboard enocde in addition to handle those inputs.

As for my opinion on which to get...I would choose the ipac4, just for the fact that it is easy to setup, and the shipping from ultimarc is awesome. I get my stuff from the UK to my door step in Canada in 2 days.

A little more info on the Lono2 compared to the IPac here.

i used a keywiz in my 4 player cabinet, along with a cheap USB gamepad.  i have 4 joysticks, 6 buttons for p1 and p2, 4 buttons for p3 and p4, four start buttons, four coin buttons and a pause/exit button.    that's 45 inputs needed.  i wired up most of them to the 40 inputs on the keywiz, and used the cheap usb gamepad for the 5 that were left over.
this works very well for me.

my friend has an ipac 4 and it is awesome also.
