Coin Door light - options?
« on: March 09, 2013, 09:02:47 pm »
Hi folks:

I picked up an old cabinet that has a coin door, but it's been gutted.  I'm in the process of rebuilding it.

I'm curious to know what options I have in terms of wiring some lights to the coin door to illuminute the 25 cents logo.  I'm thinking of a JAMMA board, and not a PC, so the power will need to come from the power supply of the PCB.

Thanks!

most jamma harnesses in cabinets are already wired for bulbs to light up the coin slots...so it should already have a wire going there supplying 12 volts.

if you don't have sockets, you can get "wedge" style  holders that just clip on to the coin runner on the top or on a tab built onto the top or  you can retrofit one and attach with a screw (depends on your door style and how old it is.)

Coin Control tab style are  Happ number 891-1117-00
runner style lampholders are Happ number 42-0351-00D

Honestly, I didnt even mess with the original lighting harness even though my coindoor came with one. I bought a bunch of USB powered flex-lights off amazon and use that to light both coin buttons and my marquee. They are low power consumption/low heat, required no fancy wiring, and look great.

Some of the older coin doors are running 14 volt bulbs.  You may have to replace those with automotive wedge bulbs and that's it.
