Whats my home made Discs of Tron arcade cab worth?
« on: February 25, 2013, 04:08:31 am »
Hi, I'm probably gonna put my arcade machine on Ebay as I need some cash - hopefully someone will buy it but if not I might sell the parts individually.  The cab is a slimline version of  discs of tron, the angles and dimensions are basically the same. The artwork is a modified/redrawn version of the original & it feels very like it to play.

Can you give me some ideas as to what I should put it up for?

Here are some pictures and specs:

I wouldn't want to speculate on a price, especially since it sounds like you live in a different country than I, but just wanted to say nice job on that cabinet.  Any during-build photos?

Tons, I'll dig them out.  All I really want to know is if it cost about £600 -700 to build it, do you think its worth any more than the parts alone?

Considering how many crappy "multicades" I see listing for over $1,000 USD lately, I should think so.  But I don't know the UK market.  In general, it can be hard to sell custom items for what they "should" be worth since the market for such items is small, and you really need to find the "right" buyer -- someone who can appreciate the vision you had for the project, as well as the effort and money that went into it, and be willing and able to pay for such a thing rather than DIY it.  You can find that guy, but it tends to take time.

That's a pretty sweet build.  I'd probably set it at 1200 and let it idle there for a few months.  Gauge reaction.  If it moves great, if it doesn't great.

What's the cabinet worth to you? Sell it for that much.
