My juke uses a 15 inch 4:3 touchscreen and it works just fine.

I was thinking of something around the same size.
Plus, you can find them pretty cheap on eBay.

Now only the 'wiring up scary electronics part' has me scared stiff!   :dunno  LOL
For me, that's the easy part. I can do the programming, I can do the wiring, I can do the assembly (Hey, I put together and paint high dollar motorcycles for a living). Just never give me a saw. I'll hurt myself.

Been lurking for a while, finally took the leap and joined up.

Love your work, Haruman! I saw the kit Peabo bought from you back in October and the Mr. Do BARTOP project and pretty much swooned. I have been wanting to get my husband a Mr. Do arcade setup and his birthday is coming up next month.

You all are inspiring me to maayyyybe try to build it.

I feel confident I could put a kit like yours together. Have seen some great artwork in the forums here that I can see myself using for the build, too, and I am pretty creative.

Now only the 'wiring up scary electronics part' has me scared stiff!   :dunno  LOL

You can do it! :)

The electronics aren't do hard, especially if you break it up by function and just do a piece at a time.   :)

Got the widescreen bartop. Great kit.

Thanks Haruman, from an old BYOAC'er---I think my last login was literally a decade ago.

Hey,

Is there any chance you can do a white melamine on one of your kits? Special order maybe?

Thanks,
JP

I offer white melamine as a regular option.  Just select that as the material when buying a kit.

Hey all.  I just recently a Degenatron kit from Haruman and was wondering if anyone had a template for the artwork.  I've read through this entire thread and it sounds like Malenko has been doing creating some art for some Haruman's kits.  Does anyone have any example files I can use as a starting point?  Illustrator or Photoshop would be preferred.  Haruman sent me some PNGs showing the height/width of the sideart, but I am having trouble recreating the dimensions in my editing software.  Thanks!

EDIT: I found templates posted by JDFAN at post #407 in this thread.  Thanks!

Scott

Id like to order the ultimate widescreen kit. How long it would take for you to ship it to CA? (94066). Thanks. I hope you have one available as Im going back to the Philippines on March 4th.

Ok I know there hasn't been many people who have the cocktail cabinet done with the Haruman touch. But I for the life of me can not figure out how to mount my monitor to the top. Any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated.

I mounted the monitor to a board, then used wood blocks between the backside of the top and the board. Worked fine.

That's what's included in the kit these days.

Hey Dude,

I got the same kit and love it. As you can see I fudged up a couple of times trying to figure it out as well. I am still not sure if I installed it the intended way but it works and I am very happy with it. I dont think you would even need the 90 degree brackets I used, I kind of went screw happy on it. Haruman did a great job with these kits. The cocktail is usually the most played when I have people over.

Hey this is a major help and explains a lot I dont have any pieces of wood that look like that. I may stop buy my local menards and buy a cheap shelve board and see if they will cut it down to size I need. I have no access to a saw and live in an apartment and we just got a good foot of snow in West Michigan last nite

One more question is that the dell 2007fp monitor uncased?

I think I ended up using a Dell 2001FP which is still the same size I think. Picture is great even at odd angles.

Problem is I don't know if you'll be able to get anything shipped to you before you leave.

Sanwa JLF for joysticsks
http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/levers-sanwa/695-sanwa-jlf-tp-8yt.html
Don't forget to add a balltop.

I would get IL buttons (you'll need 12):
http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/298-buttons-il-industrias-lorenzo

Get the cherry microswitches with them (75 gram)

That's because the microswitch for them is built in. And yes, they will work.

Overstock? So I had one too many Minitendo kits made in Baltic birch plywood.

Any interest in a "deluxe" kit ready to ship? Has tinted plexi for the bezel, also includes plexi marquee, marquee retainers, VESA screws, and your choice of black, white, blue, or red T-molding.

To purchase this kit from the shop would be $243 + shipping, will let it go for $200 + shipping.

Turns out I was wrong I did have those pieces of wood. They had gotten mixed in with the widescreen bartop I haven't started assembling yet. Just have to get the right length of vesa screws now and work out the artwork. Slowly coming along maybe soon I can start working on the bartop

So the widescreen CNC file looks like this on an online viewer: Is the cabinet part (file) complete or does it really not have the line(s) that look like they are missing (top middle)

Don't use an online viewer, go and grab DraftSight (free).  It's what I use to draw these, and you will see all lines are there.

Ah okay thanks!
A few other questions:
What are people doing about covering the edges of the tv (like an overlay to go over the fron on all parts but the display)?
What are people using regarding glass to go on top of that (if anything?)

Black tape/Black duct tape around the edges of the monitor combined with a light window tint film on the glass/plastic overlay.

Will give you this:

Guys any tips on mounting the joysticks? I bought the widescreen and trying to mount sanawa jlf. How do I make sure it is centered? Thanks

Place the joystick underneath the panel.  Look down at it from the top.  You should be able to line up the joystick hole with the joystick.

Hold it tightly once you have it lined up, flip everything over, and use a pencil to mark where the mounting plate holes go.  Pre-drill some holes, and attach your JLF.

To follow up on this (and sorry if this is a noob question), what type of screw do you recommend using with your models (and a sanwa jlf joystick) to attach to the control panel? Since the top of the screws will be visible on top of the CP, do people tend to use a flatter head bolt or more of a carriage bolt? I didn't get any screws with my jlf's, so it's off to home depot with me, and I was hoping for some clarification... thanks!

I would just use a 1/2" wood screw and do it from the bottom, nothing visible from the top.

You should use threaded inserts, you won't regret it!
