Has anyone ripped the buttons and joysticks out of an Xarcade and put them in one of Haruman's kits?  I'm tired of stumbling over my half-completed bartop every time I walk in my work room and not actually playing any games... esp. since it's winter here now and I know I won't work on it anymore until next Spring/Summer...  So I think a Haruman kit would be a good christmas present to the family (er... myself)

No reason that couldn't be done, Xarcade joysticks and buttons are basically Happ clones.

Cool - thanks for the quick response!  Another quick question:  since the last time I looked at these you added material options.  Do most people get one of the melamine options over the MDF?  Would the MDF be if I wanted to prime and paint myself?

I'd say 80% get the black melamine.  However, if you do want to prime & paint yourself, MDF is definitely the way to go.

The X-Arcade parts are HAPP clones.  No reason not to do what you suggest.

Sent you a message, but thought I might post here too. I am trying to come up with a MAME/Emulation controller that I will also use for video pinball games. This is mainly for CONSOLE pinball--ie, Sega Genesis, SNES, etc. There are some cool ones. So, I have a few ideas, and one was a Kade project or something you did, I will link the picture. I want pinball buttons on the sides of whatever it is, and a button on the front right to launch the ball. The regular buttons and joystick for other games. I was thinking of an Ikea hack as well, or a combo of an Ikea hack and a controller.

The control panel you made in this picture might work, or something like it. Put some legs on the bottom from Ikea, so it stands alone, and then put a TV stand of some kind (ikea hack or something) right up to it. I probably want several of these, so can't go too nuts on price--but your prices seem very good. I would want a Sega one, a Nintendo one, etc.

Thoughts anyone?

I'm trying to get the side layout to do the side art for my 2 player Widescreen Bartop.  Does HuMaRaN has it? Cuz i'd tried taking a picture of the side and masked it in Photoshop.  It didn't come out right. I just wasted $$ printing the vinyl art.

Well, just pulled the trigger on an Ultimate Widescreen Kit (this build will be for myself). Having it sent to work (going to love the look on the receptionist's face when a 40 pound flat box shows up.... This will be for my 3rd build. I need to finish up the mini cocktail based on the Little Ms. Pacman design for a friend of my son's first...........

Saw it, and saw your note.  Will do standard Happ buttons for all.  There is room.

Thanks!

Love the stands.  I want to build a pedestal that has shelves like this, I think it'll fit the decor much better than a closed up box.

That's probably the ONLY way I see a stand making sense for a bartop.

I was planning on buying either the widescreen or ultimate widescreen kits, and wanted to know what the difference in size was between them.
Would a standard ATX motherboard fit in either, or will I need a micro atx?

Just ordered The Degenatron. Anyone have a good idea where to start to get the artwork done on this?
Some free (previously) designed options would be nice. Or something custom. Not wanting to spend more thank 150$ on art.

+1 to Malenko

He's done a couple projects for me and I have a couple more coming up in the spring that I'll be needing his assistance on. Quality work indeed.

Here's some samples of his work for the Degenetron Bartop.

This one had some air bubbles I needed to take out, but still a decent picture.

Haruman, you have any designs for a Juke-Box cabinet? Might be a good idea to try. I know I've been kinda looking into doing my very own jukebox, and well, my woodworks sucks. But a kit would be awesome.... pair it up with the pedestal, and I could have one setup in my entertainment room in the basement. Same dimensions as a double wide would be great. I'm thinking of sticking a Sony 5.1 surround sound system using Optical input for a super clean signal. I have no problem with a bare MB, just don't want to destroy a receiver that much to make it fit somewhere smaller.  ;D.

I've toyed around with the idea...  never actually put anything to paper though.

Give me some ideas of monitors, speakers, etc and I'll see what I can come up with.

That would take someone else's input who is familiar with touch screens. I wouldn't know where to begin. They come in so many sizes too. I'm thinking a minimum of 20" monitor with 6.5" speaker ports on the side or up front. Don't know what others envision, but I'd like to use the the jukebox as the center channel and right left speakers, and hook up surround sound and sub to the back of it with a rack for my receiver (SONY DAV-DZ170 BRAVIA 5.1 Surround Theater System). I suppose I could use the stock speakers too. Either way. I'm thinking of 2 different type designs... one where the speakers mount in the front, and another where they blast out the sides. I imagine the one with speakers up front would be made for smaller monitor sizes.

My juke uses a 15 inch 4:3 touchscreen and it works just fine.

Been lurking for a while, finally took the leap and joined up.

Love your work, Haruman! I saw the kit Peabo bought from you back in October and the Mr. Do BARTOP project and pretty much swooned. I have been wanting to get my husband a Mr. Do arcade setup and his birthday is coming up next month.

You all are inspiring me to maayyyybe try to build it.

I feel confident I could put a kit like yours together. Have seen some great artwork in the forums here that I can see myself using for the build, too, and I am pretty creative.

Now only the 'wiring up scary electronics part' has me scared stiff!   :dunno  LOL

I was thinking of something around the same size.
