I just realized that I have been on this board for 10 years today!  Pretty cool!  I think back at my first couple set-ups and they sucked!  Then somewhere in between, I went all out with 27" monitors and tons of lights.  Must have been my "blinged out" stage.  At some point I realized that I really just like a simple 19" game with original controls.  Now here 10 years later, I find myself running just single games in cabinets.  Should we call this full circle?

I am just behind you. My 10 years here will be on June 8th. I am working on yet another iteration of my original cab, which should be finished in a couple of weeks. About 5 years ago, I started buying dedicated games, and I currently have 13 of them out in the garage. This has definitely been a fun almost 10 years.

Oh yeah, I recently saw my original drawings of the frankenpanel I thought I had to have back in the beginning. I am so glad I decided to go modular instead.

My first mame cabinet was in 2000, a Capcom Bowling in a Pac-Man cabinet rigged up with a Compusa Crystal trackball bottom being pushed around by the original ball. It eventually ended up in the dumpster.

240 machines later, here I am, 1 mame cabinet and about 30 non-mame ones.
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

Actually the final stage of evolution in this hobby is pinball machines.  See you when you get here!

Kidding, I appreciate the input from you long term guys in a big way.

I agree with this. Vids hold nowhere near the appeal they used to after I snagged my first pin.

10 years! You should be proud my friend.
Yet more proof that we are all hooked on this hobby, no not hobby, but addiction, that we call 'Arcade'.

Yep, just when I think I am done by finding my Holy Grail, the next one pops up.  I got the next one in the garage right now!

A decade? Seriously? I wasn't even in middle school by that time. I'll get back to my project...eventually.

I just hit my 10 year today -- and I'm still messing with my damn cabinet! 2 houses, 1 marriage and 2 kids later!! :) Best part is having my 6 year-old son help re-wire my control panel this afternoon - who would've thought?  :) I haven't posted on these boards in years, and lo and behold, my 10 year to the day!
Now witness the power of this FULLY OPERATIONAL Mame machine!

For me it is 3 houses and 2 kids later.  They are kind of interested in it all.  I bought my third house with one condition, a straight flight of stairs to the basement so I could easily move games.  I hated my second house because you had to make a 90 degree turn to get them up the stairs!

You may be right.  I know some guys who took that path.  Deep pockets guys, though, so I'm probably stuck right where I am.
