Keywiz Grounding
« on: January 05, 2013, 08:42:33 am »
Hi everyone,

I have bought a Keywiz 40ST from GGG. I have a quick question...

As the instructions stated, I have daisy-chained all my switches COM to the GND (ground) terminal of the keywiz. Do I now need to run another cable from the GND and ground the Keywiz myself?? (or does it get grounded through the PS2 cable??)

does it get grounded through the PS2 cable?

Yes -- no additional grounding required.

Speaking of grounding, if you are using a coin door, make sure you ground the metal frame of the coin door. The keywiz dont like static, I had one quit working one time, could only figure out that it was static from people touching the coin door (it wasnt grounded, but is now.)
Just attach a wire to one of the mounting screws on the door, and attach the other end of the wire to the power supply box, or if you are using a PC in the case, just attach it to one of the metal screws on the back of the PC.

As long as we're talking grounding in general, don't forget to ground metal trackball frames, too.

They're succeptible to triboelectric charging.
