Here are my Hammer and screwdriver I purchased to build my Fix it Felix Jr cabinet. If only I had the game.

Here is the sit down Fix-It-Felix-Jr conversion that I'm working on!
In place of the fix button, it's going to have a real hammer that you strike against a thick metal plate.
Please send link as it is pointless to continue building this without the game.
I've already got a fortune tied up in artwork.

Here are is my digital 3d rendering of the fix it felix bartop I have in the works. I had to upgrade my computer just to render giglobytes and miglobytes of CPUs and GPUs needed to display this virtual masterpiece.

Yeah, I probably shouldnt have Jaleel white's giant head nibbling on Felix's shirt either. I guess I'll have to fix that before I send the artwork to the graphics printer.

I can't believe you guys!  I've waited 4 weeks for my specialized hammer pictured below to assist me in my build and now you guys are mocking it!  Well it looks like my build is totally scrapped.  Thanks a lot.  Now I'll just have to go back to my day job of being a adult movie star.  At least I can still yell "I'm gonna wreck it!" before I go on.

Some clear close up pictures would be great, especially one of the small felix head that is used in the number of lives indicator in the top right corner. Some close up video of felix dieing and ralph throwing bricks.

And maybe you can check if the jump button acts similar to the jump button in the game. And also what happens when felix is standing on the left side of the building (as far left as he can go), faces left and than you press the fix key...

Feedback on how the jump button work is always appreciated. Do you move right and then press jump, or jump first and then move. Or exactly at the same time. And close up stills of ralph, felix, etc...

Sweet, I'll go ahead and grab video of how Felix dies and how Ralph throws the bricks. :)  Also, I found a picture that looks like it has the accurate sprite of Felix's lives.  Here's the picture:

I'll also shoot video with me moving the joystick and hitting the jump button while still seeing the monitor to help out with how the controls work.

This is fantastic!  Have not been on this forum for a while, but have started tinkering with my arcade cabinets and projects again recently and decided to come back.  Recently watched Wreck It Ralph with my kids for the first time and we all loved it.  I am considering the idea of building a Fix It Felix Jr. Cab to put next to my Donkey Kong.   Will be watching this thread for sure.

Nice work guys!!!
Games in my collection: Pole Position II (it actually works! Well... most of the time), Space Invaders, Donkey Kong, 280 Zzzap, Pacman, custom 3/4 size Ms. Pacman, Yankee Shuffle Alley (1954), Blue Ribbon pinball.

I wish my CAD knowledge could help benefit the project somehow. I'm amazed at all the effort being put into this. I can't wait to see the finished product. Like everyone else, I'll keep my eye out for information regarding details of the game.

Sjaak, The falling pile/hunk of bricks looks awesome in the game!
I wouldn't change anything about the way they look.

I have to say, Since death by the ducks and the pile/hunk of bricks has been activated.
The game is much more challenging!
Love it!

Okay, lots of great research and info on the FIFJr today.  I even got the oppourtunity to talk with one of the operators who worked on the game at DisneyQuest.

So, first off: yes, Felix does move to his right when he's on the far left and the fix button is pressed.  He faces left on the very edge of the windowsill until you hit the Fix button and then he does his fix animation while facing the right.  The opposite is true for the right side building as well (Felix faces right on far right of the right window, fix animation goes left).

When Felix jumps with the jump button, he jumps until he reaches the middle of the lower window pane of the window above him.  I'll draw a picture to show this, since it's kinda hard to explain.

Felix jumps up to the second and third parts of the building from off-screen.  He always starts on the bottom right window and just simply jumps straight up into view.  Meanwhile, he runs into the level from off-screen on the right and jumps onto the bottom right window at the game start.

When Felix runs from window to window, he runs and jumps at the same time, only really moving around 2-3 pixels up in height, moving in an arching motion.  He stands only on the edges of windowsills (except during the game starts and respawns) and a single tap any direction will make Felix move to another window, no matter how light the tap.

That's all I can remember for now.  I also got the high score on the machine, so I got to see for the first time, the HIGH SCORE ENTRY SCREEN, along with NEW MUSIC!!  I recorded that as well and I'll recreate it in FL Studio shortly :)

I got in touch with one of the operators at DisneyQuest and he told me that the FIFJr computers are running off of Windows XP.  They had some RAM issues in the beginning but they fixed that.  Sadly, there is a security key on the computer.  AND, he also told me that if one of the computer's hard drives fail, they have to contact Disney directly to get a new hard drive...they have NO backups locally.  While talking to him, he even made it sound like the game itself was being emulated.  I even asked him if Disney were going to released the ROM and he said the only way to get it is if someone buys a machine and they leak the copy on the internet.  I'm really hoping one of the very lucky few who are out there with their own machine or whoever wins the FIFJr sweepstakes gets to do that for us. </wishful thinking> lol  BUT, that's why we have Sjaak, who's making this awesome emulation for all of us!! :D

mrsinistar,

Thank you very much! For all that information you were able to obtain.
Especially about the operator.
That is very interesting information.
It had been reported there was a dongle in the usb port on the $20K ebay one that sold.
Sounds like that operator confirmed this.

Speaking of the DQ machines, it seems like the game isn't locked to specific hardware. I was told that many (not sure if all) of the machines there were running off of older server boxes. Doesn't make much of a difference with the dongle in place, but it's interesting nonetheless.

I wonder if they're told not to backup the drives, or they just don't bother since they're on Disney property already.

So far I've taken a few videos of the death sequence and a few other things, though it looks like that might be covered now. I may head back again tomorrow so I'm still open to helping grab any references possible.

If you do go back tomorrow, can you can bring a ruler and measure the side art, the black wood panel where the bezel sits in and control panel overlay, as well as take some pictures of the control panel?  I would greatly appreciate it.  My camera died while trying to take those pics.

I did compare my marquee artwork that I vectorized to the real deal and I gotta say, it's really damn close :D

I really like your version a lot more in some ways but recommend you change the color of the mortar to the darker mustard color to help the bricks pop more.  Other than that happy/glad change I'd say it's better than perfect.

I had that same thought.  Or. . . maybe he's bigger.  Either way there seem to be fewer steps/positions from whence the bricks raineth down.

I'm at work though and can't pull up the beta on my mac.

Is it me? Or does Ralph move faster in the video than in the beta ?

I think he does...I'll time the whole thing and adjust the beta

I did compare my marquee artwork that I vectorized to the real deal and I gotta say, it's really damn close :D

Nice job :applaud:

If you do go back tomorrow, can you can bring a ruler and measure the side art, the black wood panel where the bezel sits in and control panel overlay, as well as take some
Sure thing. I'm still waiting to see what my schedule for tomorrow is like, but given I go I'll try to get those measurements.

Anyways, a few interesting observations from today's visit, not sure if any of these have been brought up before elsewhere, I apologize if that's the case.

First thing is that Felix's speed seems to increase dramatically in terms of both side-to-side movement and jumping/falling after he's eaten a pie. The video below shows this off (sorry for portrait mode, wanted to get the entire screen in the recordings), as well as a standard death and the high score entry screen.

You can also see in that video that it's possible to jump while on the highest platform, overlapping Ralph but not taking damage from him. You still only die if he's actively smashing since that's where the bricks appear.

On the subject of deaths, I noticed that if you're in mid-jump/fall while you lose your last life, Felix's sprite will fall down to the platform below rather than him simply landing after he spins around. This can be seen in this video:

Finally a quick video showing a level ending, proceeding to show Felix perform his initial jump onto the building as the next level starts. I couldn't get a clear shot of the first level's entry jump (auto-focus on my phone screws up between the black background screens), but it's pretty much what's shown here. I'm not sure if it's been brought up before, but Ralph's sprite moves at 60 fps once he's thrown off by the Nicelanders and while he's falling down the side.

Great stuff, Spongefreak!  So glad you brought up the 60 fps when Ralph falls...I feel that's a subtle, but very important part of making the game feel like it's a real arcade game.  If Sjaak can do that in video file or create the animation within the game engine, then that would be absolutely perfect.

So glad everyone likes the marquee, thanks!! :D  I'm currently working on the side art now:
