So for te holidays we left British Columbia and went to Saskatchewan. Lot of planes and layovers for such a short distance, but since they were my third, fourth and fifth plane rides ever it still has that amazing, magical feel to it. As we left the plane in Calgary, I asked jokingly "So, where's the arcade around here?" And then saw it, right in front of me! Amazing, I assumed they were extinct!
So my wife sits outside the arcade, and I go in and have a look around. Every machine is in top condition, and I sy what I want to play - Golden Tee. So I grab my loonies and put them in the change machine and it spits out all quarters. Unfortunately for me I didn't look first, Golden Tee was set up to accept loonies only, and there I was - WITH A FISTFUL OF QUARTERS. So I look around and they had this ther golf game, PGA Tour. My wife didn't want to play, so like a kid I begged and begged and interupted her reading repeatedly until she gave in. She had so much fun, it rekindled her interest in the Spinal Tap arcade machine and made the 3 hour layover much more exciting. We didn't play for the full time, because right next to the PGA was a South Park pinball; some pinball machines are annoying but this one takes the cake. Besides being super loud, two drunk people who looked and smelled like hobos started playing it, sort of driving us out. And then the airplane had troubles so we were waiting onboard for over an hour, and they happened to be sitting right behind us, trying to outdo each other with grander and grander tales of working construction, and how they've never had to sit on a plane for an hour yadda yadda yadda; occasionally yelling at the steward or whatever. I feel like I got back at them by holding up the line exiting the plane with them right behind me and thanking the steward for making the best out of a bad situation and wishing him a happy holiday. I could feel their eyes burning a hole in my back as I stood right in the middle leaving no room to get past. Kind of petty on my part, but those guys being jerks for 2 hours [one hour wait, one hour flight] ruined the trip for everybody.
Anyways, we'll see what the coming year brings in terms of finishing up my arcade machines!
Happy holidays!
