While working on my CP, I managed to drop one of my Mag-Stik Plus joysticks. It landed directly on one of the microswitches obliterating it. I figured it would mean nothing but an E-mail to Andy to get a replacement switch, but after telling him my joysticks were 2+ years old (I lost focus on this project after buying a boat!), he said he couldn't get the same switches that he used to use (Saia-Burgess XGG2-88-J2Z417) but had others that were slightly softer. I tried to google this part number and even just parts of it, but I found nothing (when searching the whole PN) or switches that varied wildly otherwise
I ordered 8 of these (Cherry D43X) and they finally arrived yesterday, but are sadly EXTREMELY sensitive. I tried using a joystick with them for a few minutes and it felt nothing like the original controls, which I liked a lot. With the new switches, it is extremely easy to hit diagonals on accident and the recentering seems slower, as well as the switch staying on for longer than I want. I also have sanwa switches that originally came with my buttons that have slightly softer actuators (I think they would be fine) but no levers.
I E-mailed Andy about this a few minutes ago, but in the meantime I decided to go looking for an alternative myself, unfortunately there are millions of microswitches available and I can't see to find anything that gives an indication of pressure required in most cases, so I've decided to turn to you guys, hopefully someone here has an idea, I'm at wits end...
