Vertically oriented CPU intensive games?
« on: November 26, 2012, 09:46:33 pm »
Hi All

I have a bunch of spare parts lying around and am in the process of putting together a computer to run a vertical name cabinet.  I currently have a celeron g530 that seems to run everything (that I know of).  Anyone know any vertical name games that can challenge this setup?

I just want to know if it's worth spending the extra cash to upgrade the CPU.  Right now I see no reason to upgrade.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks -- everything runs just fine except for a little audio stuttering in Raystorm.  But that one is a 4:3 and I am just going with 3:4 games for this unit.  Also, for some reason I don't seem to have Terra Diver in my romset but I believe that one is 4:3 as well.

I am putting together a mini-itx build and am thoroughly impressed with the G530 so far -- and its running all of this on integrated graphics to boot!

Raiden 3 and 4 are vertical I think and are probably pretty cpu intensive, Taito Type X games, wont run in mame, they are programs written for special pc's

Most of Cave's SH3 games - Death Smiles, Mushihimesama I & II, EspGaluda I & II - require quite a beefy CPU, especially when there's lots of bullets on screen. Not true obviously for their older stuff like Progear, DoDonPachi, SOS Fever, and Esprade.

Cave requested they be removed from the directory since they are still money making titles.  You'll have to roll back to an older version to run cave I do believe.

As a note some forums take offense to talk of the cave issue. I'm not aware of any issue here but one should be aware that it can be a thorny issue.
