acessing properties in command line mame
« on: November 25, 2012, 11:06:08 am »
I have already created a mame.ini file for the overall config settings, but am not sure how to do this for each individual game (the equivalent of right clicking the game in the GUI version and clicking properties).  The reason I ask is because I am trying to run die hard arcade (which requires you to change to the US bios.
By the way, if this requires me to click run and then type something in the windows command line, my knowledge is very limited in this. I am running mame 127 on windows xp. Thanks.

Have you tried starting a game, pressing TAB?

I don't think that you can change the bios that way. You can just change controls and dip switches by using tab.
I was able to get die hard working many years ago. What I think that I did (and I'm hoping that there's an easier way) was put a GUI mame in the same folder as my mame.exe, then scan the roms and change the config settings from the GUI. Does this sound like it makes sense? And if so, would I need the exact same version of mame as the exe that I have been using?

Do you already have stvbios.zip in your roms directory?

Just tried it and MAMEUIFX32 automatically configured and ran it once diehard.zip and stvbios.zip were in the roms folder.
