The trackball is such an awesome controller—I wish there were more games made for it.
Some great mentions so far.
Wacko is pretty cool—it has Robotron-esque controls and gameplay, but the “move around” joystick is replaced with a trackball. The firing is with a joystick, but it’s only 4 directions as opposed to 8 like in Robotron. Tough game to learn, but great fun if you stick with it long enough to get the hang of it.
Shoot the Bull is a decent take on darts.
Simpsons Bowling is pretty fun, totally different take on using a trackball for bowling.
As has already been mentioned, there are several games that aren’t trackball games in their original cabinets, but are very playable and fun with a trackball:
Monte Carlo – old school overhead racer from Atari, surprisingly fun.
Championship Sprint
Pole Position
Hang On
Major Havoc – this one had a single-axis horizontal “roller”, so a trackball is a totally reasonable substitute.
Tac Scan – cool vector shooter that used a spinner originally
Mad Planets – controls similar to Wacko, but originally used a spinner. Freakin’ awesome game.
