Will this light strip be big enough for my marquee?
« on: September 26, 2012, 09:31:07 am »
Hello,
My marquee is 660mm by 150mm.

I've bought a 14w Fluorescent 60cm T5 Striplight. It's a tight squeeze and I'm wondering whether it's overkill.

Do you think a a 8w 34cm would do? I'm more thinking would the edge of the marquee be dim?

thanks.

most marquees use an "F15T8" fluorescent light. it's about 43 centimetres.

it's 15 watts and pretty bright. I guess my question would be... is your marquee DARK or does it have a fair amount of bright or white colour in it?

if it's dark I would suggest the brighter bulb...otherwise you may hardly notice it's lit up since most of the light is going to blocked.

if it's light or fairly brightly coloured a lower wattage may do just fine.

I would still try to get one al long as the opening will fit. You don't want a "hot spot" of light in the middle of the marquee and have the edges dark.

with flourecent fixtures try to find something with the stadard "medium Bi-pin" also known as a "G13" connections... the bulbs are a lot more common than the small size commonly found with Chinese imported fixtures. and the bulbs are about 1/4 the price of them too.

Cheers, I'll stick with the longer one then. As for the marquee, I haven't decided on the design yet, but I've found a place that's cheap enough and do prints on 'backlit' paper.
