in place of the standard Happ coin return push button assembly? It seems like they are meant for new construction cabinets that may not have a coin door, but I'm retrofitting MAME into a neogeo cab and would love to use these as my coin1 and coin2 buttons, while still maintaining some realism to the door without the addition of more buttons.
the ipac has shift functions for coin, but i'd like to keep the number of shift functions to a minimum.
To actually answer your question, no, you can't. These aren't actual coin reject buttons, they are simply (HAPP?) illuminated buttons (VLT buttons?) that have similar artwork under the lens, including a representation of a coin slot. You could do as AJ suggested and simply mount switches behind the coin return buttons of your cabinet, but depending on how the coin door's reject mechanism works, it might be difficult to position a switch where it will be closed by the mechanism yet still preserve its original functionality.
Actually, let me backtrack a bit... yes, you CAN use these as "Coin 1" and "Coin 2", and depending on how much you are willing to modify your coin door you CAN mount them where the original reject buttons would be, but NO, they are not just drop-in replacements for the HAPP coin reject assembly.
