is using cat 6 the best option???
is Ethernet the best way to ground a button??
having shorter cables helps..???
what about the length of the usb cable ??

is it possible to make it more responsive or there is nothing i cant do !!

Wire is wire.

Get yourself a Lono2.

Using old ethernet cables is not the best solution in general, as the wire is a much smaller gauge than what arcade controls normally have.

Any commercial encoder you use is going to poll the controls far more times per second than the game software will.

Response time and input lag isn't really a thing to be worried about. If it is happening than it is likely because of software issues, not hardware issues, and even then it probably isn't input lag so much as frameskipping or virtual memory access.

If you are having what you perceive as input lag then it is almost certainly something else. Not your wiring, not the encoder you are using.

Streetfighter 3rd Strike the game you are playing perhaps?

lono2 ????

Ive never heard of it before :)

is it better than i pac??

there is so little info about that controller

 LONO2 Features

Ultra-fast with a USB 2.0 output that updates all 72 inputs faster than anyone's advertised USB Full-Speed rate
4 separate 19 pin headers allowing for 4 joysticks and 56 buttons
Automatically shows up in Windows as 4 Joysticks, and 14 buttons with each, making Mame configuration almost automatic
    Native USB 2.0 Full-Speed support
Integrated hardware based USB technology, much faster throughput than software emulated ports
USB 2.0 HID device that is automatically recognized by HID compatible operating systems
Small 2" x 2.5" form factor means this 72 input controller will fit just about anywhere
Pin headers with harness. No screws, no solder, just plug and play
Harness is fully color coded for easy wiring eliminating the tedious task of tracing same color wires
Multipile Lono boards can run together if you need more than 72 inputs (72,144,216,etc)
Engineered and Assembled in the USA

I PAC Features

I-PAC is the ONLY keyboard encoder to have up to 56 inputs each with it's own dedicated microprocessor pin.  No interaction or delays, vital for multi-button games such as fighting games.
I-PAC is the ONLY keyboard encoder which emulates a USB keyboard (and PS/2) and yet breaks through the USB simultaneously-pressed-switch limit of 6 switches (plus ctrl, alt, shift) which afflicts all USB keyboard devices. This is beacuse it has inbuilt full native USB support, and does not rely on an add-on adaptor.
I-PAC is the ONLY keyboard encoder which has a fully multi-processed interrupt-driven (so no loss of performance) pass-through connector so that an attached keyboard (or a second encoder) is handled in PS/2 mode with full byte interleaving rather than being switched on/off.
I-PAC is the ONLY keyboard encoder which can be programmed either with or without host software. Even without special host software, the I-PAC can still display programming steps and current settings, so no working "blind".
I-PAC is the ONLY device to have a shift function which allows ANY input to be assigned to a shifted secondary keycode and the shift button can have it's own function too so no need for a dedicated extra control panel button.
I-PAC is the ONLY device to have a self-test LED which not only gives an instant visible check of your installation but also can indicate which connection (if any) is causing a problem.
I-PAC retains it's programming after power off. Beware! Not all keyboard encoders do this

well i dont seem to see the difference in performance  :banghead:
they both have no ghosting...???  :dizzy:

can you personaly say that the lono is faster than I pac ?? there is so little info about the controller to see a review or comparison!!
but if it is i would change it right away! just need to be sure! because the reason i have an i pac4 is the buttons i use 35 and 3 joysticks! but i would totally get it if its goint to make a difference

are u currently using one??

Any body using it???

well tanks a lot for ur fast response! :applaud:
this is the first time i read about this lono2 seem to be an underrated product all you hear is ultimarc vs groovy game gear ajajaja :lol

best response ever!! :applaud:

am not having any issues with game but i just wanted to know if there is a way to give your response time a boost!!
i had a hard time using the arcade X with fighters because of the joystick and usb controller but since i own an ipac thats past
the thing is that i see lots of ppl using cat 5 cable to wire their cabs
i though cuz it gives better conductivity  :lol
...so i thought it might be better...
.. i will give my mame and all that a check!!

and yes i play street fighter 3
and king of fighters and they are really fast fighters so having the best connection would be great well thanks
for the INFO

Here's the product announcement thread of the original Lono: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=111558.0

I originally had an IPAC2ve in my testing control panel. I swapped it out to beta test the Lono and I noticed a difference in playing shmups. YMMV. That board went into the Two-Headed Beast. When the Lono2 came out, it took the place of my Lono in the machine. Love the board.

Interesting board. It looks like 4 sticks with buttons instead of a keyboard to the OS.

I'm going to keep that in mind!

this product looks promising

i will definitely give it a try.....even tho buying a new interface was not in my plans i want to see what this thing is capable of
thanks again Nephasth  i read the link of the post you gave me (fights very entertaining) its in more detail than the web page its self

in my opinion more pics should be added to the site : a video showing what this thing is capable of would be awesome:
if it wasnt for the link you gave me i would never had considered this controller
so little information on the website no many pictures and they seem blurry >>>>
but seems to be a "beast" the way u discribe it
i will give it a try but fist
