What to do with a crappy 7" android tablet.....
« on: June 30, 2012, 12:54:34 am »
So I received a Coby Kyros mid7012 tablet last christmas as a kind yet misguided gift.
It runs android 2.2 I think, has an 800mhz processor and 256mb ram.
Its pretty much useless to me so I was thinking about building a tiny cab around it....

I can supposedly plug a keyboard into it...

Can anyone offer me advice or some direction on how to get an android version of mame running on this thing?

I've been researching hooking up a gamepad to it but dont think that it is possible, no drivers.

Really would just like some tips on what to do with this thing.

That should help. Then should just be able to hack the keyboard

See if you can flash it to honeycomb. Then you can do Mame4all that way which *should* have hid gamepad support.

I have the same tablet.  It was such a disappointing product that it didn't sell long and thus there is virtually nothing in the way of aftermarket support for it.

There is one ROM that you can load on it, and you have to pay for it.....it does not really improve performance or add features.

Highly doubtful you can find Honeycomb for it....ever.

I'd recommend you sell it for $50 to some rube on eBay.

I just discovered this post. Wondering if anyone ever found a way to put Honeycomb on this thing. My wife has one that she's trying to get rid of. If I could MAME it and make a tiny cab, that would be sweet! Anyone ever make a mini MAME cab out of one of those Coleco Pac-Man/ DK tabletop LCD games?

I tried and tried to get any sort of performance out of the tablet but it is just a piece of junk.
