What is the best way to do this.  Soldering does not seem wise as these are really crowded.  Is there a single post connector that I can crimp or anything else that is standard?

If you have the connector body that was supposed to come with the PACLED, Andy has 10 packs of the insert wires here.

Bryan has these or these.

Or, maybe you could just plug in some old IDE drive cables and add a couple of the Bryan's 4-wire connectors.

ed12, what you are thinking of is on the UltraPAC, not the PACLED.  The PACLED just has posts.

PL1, I think you are barking up the right alley.  I will check with paradise.

Thanks,

Shane

My PACLED64s came with 24 pin connector housings, but I got some 48 pin housings from Molex for them...

But just about any .100 header connector should work.

As mentioned above, we supply the header housings with the board, but the wires are separate, in packs of 10. These wires are not required if you are using our RGB LEDs because these already have connectors/wiring attached so plug directly into the board, not requiring the housings or wires.

Ok, so I found my connectors that came with these.  Do you crimp these guys?  If so, with what?

If you get desperate to get it done:
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103683
(Paul Olson had a nice video tutorial on crimping tiny Aim-Trak pins with one of those in a thread on here, but I can't find it.)
EDIT: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=110181.msg1167355#msg1167355

Someday I plan to go through Nephasth's threads and put together a shopping list of decent tools and a stockpile of connectors.
If you ever want to make a wiring guide, at least one person would use it.  ;)

I'm used to working with bigger wires (16-18ga) and autmotive connectors.
I saw the error in my ways when trying to squeeze the view button panel back into place on my new driving cab dash.
5 buttons, 5 lights, & a tight space; the thickness of the wires and connectors became an issue.  :-\

Its worth pointing out though that there is no need to crimp any connectors for the PacLED64.
Using the RGB LEDs the connectors are pre-fitted to the LEDs, and using other LEDs means using the pre-crimped wires which we supply.

Of course if you want to acquire the crimp pins and a crimp tool and crimp your own wires thats fine, but there is no need to.

True, but if I am going to use the connectors that you provided with the PACLED, I need to insert my own wires and crimp it I would assume.

Or buy the pre-crimped wires from Andy.

Correct. We dont include the pre-crimped wires as they are not needed if using RGB LEDs. I have tried to make clear what needs to be ordered on the product info page, for each type of LED, but maybe I need to review this and make it clearer if necessary.

I am about to work on the PACLED and I realized this morning, I still don't know what the hell Im doing.  I have the connectors for the board, and a lot of my own wires.  I had planned on using CAT5 cables and breaking out the individual wires to use for the buttons and the LED's.  So that is going to leave me with bare wires that are going to need to get into these connectors.  I saw the post a little of the ways up about the D-Sub connector and the crimping method used.  To get this straight, the D-Sub connectors, once crimped, will fit down inside the tiny hole, and ultimately make a socket for the pin to fit up into?  Is this correct or am I missing something?  Is this the best bet, other than order more stuff from Andy (I am keeping him in business lately), or is there some other alternative?  I considered soldering, but those pins are awfully small and I am not that skilled with an iron.

If you don't have the pins, these should work (bottom of the page): http://www.futurlec.com/ConnHead.shtml
Shipping is $4 and takes 1-2 weeks though.
