The Geekstation!
« on: March 25, 2013, 11:35:54 am »
Hey guys!
After wanting one for years, my girlfriend suggested we build my very own arcade cabinet.
We used the Vewlix arcade used for Street Fighter 4 as our inspiration and made our own "cheap" version of it.
While we could have done better, had we taken more time making it, I'm pretty impressed by what two persons with no woodworking skills at all was able to pull off in just 3 days.

For hardware I dusted off my old gaming PC and 22" LED screen.
The PC has 4GB Ram, Quad Core 2,4Ghz and Windows Vista.
The games run via Hyperspin where I have pretty much every console from NES to the PS1, or the PC version of Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition.
I also have a few Wii, GC and PS2 games running.

For the buttons i ordered a "Starter kit" from Arcadeworld UK containing the iPac2, 16 buttons and two joysticks. I also have a Madcatz Tournament Stick and Xbox 360 controller connected for some 4 player mayhem.
I'm thinking of changing the buttons to some sanwa buttons, since they're much more suited for fighting games.

Here are some pictures taken after the build was finished. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures from the building process.
These pictures were taken before I got plexiglass on the machine, but pretty much everything else is finished.

Me and my friend proudly showing off the arcade:

I was also wondering if anyone know if its possible to get the buttons set up with both the Ipac for PC and something that connects it to my Xbox?
I want to be able to play Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 on it as well  :P

How about

http://www.ultimarc.com/xbox360.html

 :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

And then a manual switch box to switch the inputs between PC & XBOX, If you email Ultimarc I am sure that they will be able to advise on having both connected.
