335,410 tonight.

Got farther than ever. Saw a large gray plane--hadn't seen one of those before.
Nice! That's the boss plane I use my loop on. I try to get as many shots on him as possible before he throws out his first volley of bullets. I loop when he does, steering the plane to a safe spot and then finish him off when I land.

There is no wonder why I like this game! I was doing some reading and found out that the same designer who made Time Pilot and Gyruss for Konami, went onto Capcom and made 1942. Apparently Konami wanted him to make a racing game or something, but he made Gyruss instead, resulting in getting fired. It's great that he did, Gyruss and Time Pilot are in my favourite all-time arcade games list as well! Cheers to stickin' to your guns Yoshiki Okamoto

Gyruss and Time Pilot are way cooler than 1942, though.

There's still roughly a day left for this competition right?  Or am I wrong?

My highest score so far is only 114,660.  I had actually recorded that one but the .avi was corrupted somehow.  Think it has to do with my lack of space on the hard drive.  Didn't realize this until after I had written over the .inp file.     O-well.  At least I got a picture of it.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply this was over, just summarizing the scores posted so far!

Just finished a game with a score of 194,600.  Going to try and break 300,000 at least by the end of this competition.  If not I'll post a pic as proof.

Here's my official submission for 335,410. I can't seem to top it, though I can get in the mid/high 200k range pretty regularly.

Something about the dense forest background plays havoc with my eyes--I have trouble seeing enemy bullets & planes--that's where I usually croak...

As per my last post 194,600 was as high as I got so here's the proof.  I got close a couple times but ended up loosing two planes within 10 seconds and ending the game.  Rage quit a couple times as well.  LOL.  O-well.

Awesome, good games all!  And thanks again kixfan for picking this one.
This one really brings me back, and I'm happy this comp got me to work on the original PCB to add to the collection.

My pick for the next comp is Burger Time! http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=120091.0
An absolute classic, which I'm surprised hasn't been chosen yet.  Figured it would be a nice break away from shooting/destroying things.

Good luck and Happy Gaming!
