Tightening down ball top?
« on: April 13, 2012, 06:22:14 pm »
Hey guys, this maybe a dumb question, but how do you tighten down a ball top on a joystick? I've tried wrapping it with a clothe and grabing it with a pair of plyers. But it seems to allways come loose! Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!

Is there a slot on the other end of the shaft? If so, put a flat head screwdriver in the slot to hold the shaft while tightening the ball. If you really want it to stay on there, put Loctite 271 or 242 on the threads.

Plumbers teflon tape works well, wrapped around the threads.

Another tip on joystick tops, they can be polished with toothpaste, works great and really makes them shine!

You can also try loctite - it comes in different strengths, surely one of which is good for this type of application

Blue - Medium Strength

Just a drop or two will do ya.
Not a technician . . . . just a DIY'er.
