Newbie question here...

Getting Mala set up for first time (Version 1.74). So far so good, but I hit a new snag...

I have a two emulators set up. MAME and Daphne.

I configured MAME to show the marquee, cabinet, cpanel, and snap images in the Info Window but can't seem to get all four of these images to show up in the Info Window for Daphne.

Under "Other Emu Config" tab; Daphne emulator selected, Options, Definable 1 (Extra Layout Pictures), I have entered the path to the folder containing the cabinet pics (.pngs) for all Daphne emulated games. All images have the exact same name as the Roms/Batch files.

Now, under GUI tab; Info Window; Other Emus Page; I've created 4 pages - Marquee, Control Panel, Cabinet and Screenshot. All of these show up perfectly EXCEPT the cabinet images. The "Cabinet" title is set to "Image type; Definable 1"

For the life of me I can't figure out why the cabinet pics won't show up when I run MALA and open the Info window on any of the Daphne games. I followed the same configuration logic as I did with MAME. Why won't they show up? Marquee, Cpanel, and Screenshot show fine. I've triple checked the path and images, it's all correct. I know the cabinet images are OK because as a test I placed "Definable 1" randomly on my menu layout and they showed up fine. I just can't seem to get them to show up in the Info Window as I'd like them to.  :banghead:

Any ideas from you Mala experts out there? Thanks in advance.  ;)

Still waiting for someone to respond to my post.

Isn't there anyone out there that might be able to help me out with this question? See above.

I still can't get cabinet pics to show up in the Info window of Non-MAME emulator games. Can anyone help me please??

Thanks!  ???

Hmm, I see how the info window is working for Mame games, I don't happen to have any other emus setup right off so I can't test, but if 3 of them are working and only Cabinets aren't, that might be a loadman only question.

Sorry I can't help more.

Maybe you need to make custom layouts for what you are trying to do.

Maybe you need to make custom layouts for what you are trying to do.

I don't think so, the info window is just one image, and each "page" just gets draw over that background. I don't think a different layout would help here

My layout for Daphne is a custom layout, but I don't believe one can create different layout for the info window outside of a background image. I took out the default blue/Space Invaders background but that's all I did. Would that have messed things up.

Loadman...any help??

I have the same problem with definables. I think that it is a bug.

What images do you want me to share? Cabinet images? They're just the .png images that are used with MAME. Nothing special. They work as definable 1 images within a custom layout, just not within the Info window (Non MAME). It must be a bug. Loadman you know anything about this??

Loadman hasn't posted for a while and has indicated that he gets busy in the real world from time to time.  No negativity intended at all, just wanted to make sure you didn't get concerned if no response.  I've got a couple of things I need help with as well when he gets back.

How often does Loadman check in for questions like this that don't seem to have a ready answer? Is there any way to escalate this post for when he comes back?

Loadman... are you checking in now? Any thoughts on this issue. Thanks so much.

Anyone know when Loadman might be by to check this question out? There doesn't seem to be an answer from anyone esle? A bug perhaps? Any other ideas for workarounds?

Loadman?

Thanks.

I don't have time to set everything up that would be required to test this right off (I'm not running two emus), but you might grab a copy of FILEMON

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896642.aspx

Run it, start monitoring, then run Mala and watch the log.

FileMon will show you what files are attempting to be opened and the results of that attempt.

It may take some sleuthing, but you should be able to narrow down

1) IF mala is trying to open any files from your cabinets folder
2) if it is, then you'll also see the name it's using to make that attempt.

Maybe that could help trace down what the problem is.

I get the same behavior. At least it's only cabinets. Loadman just doesn't seem to have the time for Mala, so if this issue is a deal-breaker, I suggest using a different FE.

Thanks again to those who chimed in. At least I know it's not just me that's experiencing this problem.
I suppose it's not a deal breaker. I'll just have to adjust the Info screens to not expect a cab image.
