Cabinet wireing.
« on: March 10, 2012, 04:39:24 pm »
Have a an old MK2 cab I am re wiring. The main power comes in the cabinet to the isolation transformer. It feeds both the switcher power supply for the original game board and also feeds the crt monitor. I removed the switcher power supply and now am wondering if I can use the AC power that is coming from the isolation transformer to plug my pc in?

I don't see any reason not to just want to make sure I don't blow something.
This this way seems better then splicing into the original power cable for the isolation transformer.

I think splicing it in after the isolation transformer would be redundant, but it should work either way you go.

Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

The transformer needs to be big enough to handle the added current of the PC.
If everything works and the transformer dont get hot, it should be ok.
You said you removed the switcher, so that will free up the current it was drawing. Im not sure how much current the switcher pulls compared to the PC?
